Another great turnout for our regular meeting.  Thanks to each member who is taking time to invite someone to experience our members and Club.  Take time to ASK our guests to consider membership in Rotary.  A great deal of the time in general conversation with our visitors when they are asked if they have ever considered joining, the answer is - "I haven't ever been asked".  ASK.  Every member in our great Club was asked to join at sometime.  Do the same for another like-minded individual.  We can't grow without your efforts.

We have some very important projects in the works now.  We have 8 "Big Game" boards circulating.  Each member is being asked to take the Boards and participate in the sales.  The fundraiser is to help us complete the refurnishing of the Agassi B&G Club learning zone, along with several other projects.  Contact Greg Clemens or Past President Mike Clayson (05-06) if you can help.  February 19-21 is the Mayor's Cup International Soccer Tournament.  I had the opportunity to sit with Past President Roger Tabor (02-03) as he presented the story of this Tournament to the Dawson administration.  There are over 350 International teams this year; it is amazing how this has grown from just a few little teams from Mexico about 8 years ago.  Roger needs help with transportation and our Club has agreed to sponsor several meals and possibly more in partnership with Alexander Dawson.  And, last, but not least, our  25th Birthday Bash on March 18 in the heart of the Fremont Experience.  Not only do we need you to save the date, but we need you to be involved!  Talk to Past President Drew Levy (91-92) and President Elect Dulcinea Almazan to find out what you can do.  For any and all of these projects to be successful, it will be up to each and everyone of us to help.  And remember the Birthday Bash on Wednesday.  See you there!

Fremont members - "ASK" someone to experience Rotary!  Don't keep us a secret.............

Last Week's Program & News

Cam Ferenbach, President of the Nevada State Bar and partner of Lionel, Sawyer & Collins, gave our members and guests a great presentation regarding the function of the Nevada State Bar.  Its primary mission is to license & regulate the lawyers of Nevada.  It is not a State agency, but instead a public association/corporation funded by members, however it is regulated by the 7 judges on the Supreme Court of Nevada. It administers the Bar Exam, prosecutes and/or fines based on attorney violations, provides an attorney referral service and has a client security fund set up to compensate clients in the case of disbarment or death of a lawyer.  If you would like more information on the role of the Nevada State Bar, you can log on to their website at  Nevada State Bar.

Past President Paul Bell (98-99) had all the team members in place for the meeting.  Visiting Rotarians Peter Pohl from Germanyincluded Peter Pohl, retired classification, from Gelsenkirchen Club in Germany and President Randy Pote of the Centennial Club in Colorado.  Peter presented us with a banner from his Club and  told us he was sent by his Club on a mission to film and photograph all he could about Vegas and is putting together a video that we hope he will share with us.  President Randy was kind enough to take home to Colorado one of our Big Game Boards and, at last report, has sold 13 squares.  Other visitors included Jackie Winger, Acct Exec with Metech Recycling, an electronics recycling firm, guest of Mike Woodfield,  Bob Coffin, guest of Past President Roger Tabor (02-03), Major Bill Clayson and Lt Col Darby Clayson, brother and sister-in-law of Past President Michael Clayson (05-06).  A special presentation of dinner and a movie was made to Past PresidentRoger and Amy Tabor presentation Roger Tabor ((02-03) and his wife, Amy, as a special thanks for all that they do for our Club, including most recently hosting the JDRF concert pre-party and the Holiday party.  Thank you Roger and Amy for the selfless acts you perform for our Club and others within Rotary.  Thank YOU Fremont Club members for stepping up to make this gift to them possible!

Past President Paul Bell (98-99) was once again recognized for appearing in "print" without his Rotary pin.  Cross-fines were abundant and included several for Steve Reiter & President Elect Dulcinea who sat in a distant corner during the meeting, away from the other members.  The big drawing was held, and, again, no winner.  The odds continue to improve if you attend and buy the tickets.

Weekly Foundation Thought

This week's Rotary Foundation Thought is about micro credit.

In Cuzco, Peru Rotarians contributed $10,000 to a partnering association, Asociacion MIDE, which provided small loans to 288 low-income women. In six months these women improved their businesses and living standards, lifting them out of extreme poverty. While local Rotarians had the opportunity to work together to develop the project and approve the system of loans, the participants learned to use, administer and benefit from financial credit. In the process, the women improved their self-esteem as they acquired entirely new roles of financial responsibility for their families. How do I focus my giving? Every Rotarian, Every Year - Giving is hope in action.

RI Pilot Programs

The RI Board of Directors has approved four areas as pilot projects tests beginning next year. Each club president and president-elect has received information from RI on application procedures and forms to apply for one of these pilot projects. Applications for project are due to RI by 1 April 2011. Clubs in District 5300 are encouraged to consider applying to pilot one of these ideas.

Associate Member Pilot: Allows an individual to become associated and acquainted with a Rotary club, its members, its programs and projects, and the expectations of club membership with the intent of becoming an active member within a designated period of time.

Corporate Member Pilot: Allows a corporation or company in the club's area to become a member of the Rotary club, with up to four designees as its representatives.

Satellite Club Pilot: Allows a Rotary club to conduct multiple club meetings during a week, each taking place at a different location, on a different day, and/or at a different time.

Innovative and Flexible Rotary Club Pilot: Allows clubs to self-determine their operations to fit better with the needs of their members and community. Clubs would be authorized to make changes to the Standard Rotary Club Constitution and to their Rotary Club Bylaws.
