Dear  :

Past President, and Foundation Chair,  Drew Levy asked me to share this important information regarding The Foundation and Paul Harris Fellowships:

In keeping with the past tradition of the Rotary Club of Las Vegas Fremont, as Foundation Chair, I would like to remind everyone that now is the time to consider a donation to The Rotary Foundation-Paul Harris Fellow before the end of this year to take advantage of the personal tax deduction for 2010.  Numerous members of the Club are just a few dollars away from achieving the Paul Harris designation, or an additional PHF designation (name in honor of spouse, child or grandchild, etc)

Additionally, the Club will again offer to match "dollar for dollar" to get you to the next level.  This is a very easy way to take advantage of our Club points currently sitting on account at Rotary International.  I have the latest list of each member's current contribution level and can speak with you individually if you would like to know your status to consider making a gift in 2010.  Please call or e-mail me for information.  Thank you.

Just a friendly reminder, as well, that this Saturday, December 11, is our annual Holiday Party - make sure you have responded to Amy and Roger Tabor at [email protected] if you will be attending.

Yours in service through Rotary,

Linda Bertuzzi, President, LV Fremont Rotary Club

Karl Zauder, DC, BS, is a licensed Chiropractic Physician in Nevada and certified since 1994 in the Cox Felxion Distraction technique.  He shared with us the Cox Technique is a spinal manipulation performed on a specially designed chiropractic instrument which has several movable sections.  Each section flexes, extends, laterally bends, and rotates, unlike the fixed tables used by most other chiropractors.  The Technique drops intradiscal pressure, widens the spinal canal, reduces pressure on the spinal nerves, and returns motions to spinal joints, which can provide much needed relief for lower back and leg pain, as well as neck and arm conditions.  If you would like more information, you can contact Dr. Karl at Dr. Karl or phone 702-308-2725.

Thank you to PP Roger Tabor for pulling his meeting team together.  Frieda Brazier visited from her home Club, Las Vegas Central, to promote her Club's Raffle on December 15th.  Continued prayers offered for PDG & PP Roy York for continued recovery from his hip surgery.  Pres-Elect Dulcinea Almazan announced the 25th anniversary bash is being re-scheduled to possibly sometime in March due to conflict with the SuperBowl on our original weekend date.  The cross-fines were abundant, from new member Carla Smith's daughter turning 4, to PP Drew Levy's attendance at the UNLV Runnin' Rebels games in Anaheim, to PP Laura Fitzpatrick for taking the cross-fine money out of the members hands before the cross-fine was announced, and Lane Kay cross-fined Pres-Elect Dulcinea Almazan for encouraging him and his family to wait 45 minutes for breakfast at Hash House A Go Go.  The winning card has yet to be drawn for the money.....have to play to win!

Santa Clothes

PP Bell at Santa ClothesPresident Linda, PP Paul Bell and Membership Chair Robin Smith had an incredible time being personal shoppers for some amazing children during the Santa Clothes event at JCPenney, Meadows Mall, last Wednesday. Pres Linda at Santa Clothes With the addition of the the Engelstad Family Foundation, we had $200 to spend (net $150) for the kids.  The extra $50 went a very long way for 310 very charming children and for the very first time, President Linda's little girl announced she was tired and wanted to stop and pay.  Thank you to Las Vegas Rotary Club for continuing to allow us to be partners in this heartwarming experience.

Weekly Foundation Thought

This week's Rotary Foundation Thought is about how a Group Study Exchange can make history.

For the first time in southern African history, a group study exchange has taken place between two formerly conflicting countries. In November 2006 a GSE team from Zambia visited South Africa, signifying improved relations between the two countries. This exchange was made possible from a contribution of district designated funds from District 9210 to District 9300. With the end of Apartheid in South Africa, these young professionals are now able to talk to one another and share ideas and common interests that will help their countries look to the future in peace. Some of the greatest stories being told today started with a contribution to The Rotary Foundation. Let's make sure our Club is part of the Rotary story.

RI Foundation Permanent Fund

As of Sept. 30, RI had net assets of $187.2 million in the Permanent Fund, with expectancies of $442.4 million, for a total of $629.6 million. The Foundation's goal is to reach $1 billion by 2025. Only interest earned from this fund is used for humanitarian projects. District 5300's Million Dollar Dinner campaign is in response to help the Foundation reach this goal. One can do so with commitments from life insurance, wills, trusts, and annuity plans. Outright contributions at this time are not necessary. Become a Rotary Foundation Bequest Society Member.
