Dear  :

A great presentation last week by the Rotary Cultural Scholarship Student, Min Jin Kim.  Considering she has only been in the US less than a year, her English is amazing.  During her power point presentation I found it interesting that as different as our cultures are, the photos showed what could have been any city in the US, with skyscrapers, bright city lights, beautiful beaches, and snow skiing.  It would seem in many ways we are alike.

A tip of the old Presidential hat to our incoming President, and Lady in Waiting, Linda Bertuzzi.  Not only has she done a great job in organizing the Booker event, and organizing the first Fireside Chat we've had in a long time, (and considering doing the next one with a bigger audience, like all of Southern Nevada); she has also done the most important job of all.  Linda has personally brought in three (3), count 'em, new members.  Best of all she was sort of mildly complaining she didn't have much to do as President Elect.  Thank you Linda, Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The Holiday Party will have come and gone by the time you read this, and those of you that were there will know what a good time we will have had.  Once again, a Past President has stood up and grabbed the bull by the horns.  Credit goes to Drew Levy, for not only convincing his wife, Debbie,  to have the Holiday party at her house and calling in a marker from a caterer to provide the food, but this year it included a Chanukah Event, and that had to be a first for many of our club.  To all that were not there, I'm willing to bet you missed a great event.  I'm hoping in writing this that I will have seen every single member at the party.  Happy Holidays to all.

Special Info on Paul Harris Fellow Program

In case you were not aware; November was "Rotary Foundation" Month. In support of this very important time of the year, our President Roy York and the Board have approved our popular 'Matching Points for Dollars' program of giving to The Rotary International Foundation as an opportunity for club members to receive Paul Harris Fellow recognition.

It is very simple; the Club will match any member with points per dollar donation (up to 500 points) to RI to become a Paul Harris Fellow, either for the first time or for additional PHF awards. Members can also honor anyone else such as a spouse, boss, child or parent with a PHF award. (As an example; you currently have $500.00 already donated to RI Foundation and you commit to another $250.00 donation and the Club will commit 250 points, bringing your total contribution level to $1,000.00 as required by RI and you or a designee becomes a PHF.) Participants are expected to issue a check in the required amount or make arrangements for a credit card payment to RI on a one time, lump sum basis. The Club will handle the rest to complete your contribution.

If you are interested in pursuing this opportunity, please contact your Foundation Chairman, Drew Levy ([email protected] or 702-595-4509), to determine your current donation status and obtain the needed amount to qualify for an initial or multiple PHF award. I will be honored to assist you in filling out the required paperwork and making the necessary administrative arrangements.

"Matching Points for Dollars" is an excellent way to support The Rotary International Foundation and to receive appropriate recognition for your philanthropic efforts. It is also tax deductible...act now before the end of the year. I look forward to discussing this program with any Las Vegas-Fremont Rotary Club member.

In Rotary,

Drew Levy, Past President

Foundation Chairman

 Angel Tree
We are continuing our support of the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program this year.  25 Angels will be adopted at the request of the Board and available for adoption to our members.  Please contact Linda B for more information.,

Just a note of follow-up on our Club's efforts to fulfill a Christmas wish for a new bed for a local 8th grader.  We have raised $415 for this purchase from the generosity of many individual Rotarians.  Because JCPenney's is so generous with their support of the Rotary Santa Clothes event, we have approached them to purchase the bed.  The Area Manager is working on this for us and will have information next week.  The West Club is also busy collecting, and received $440 in monetary donations from their members which will be converted to a gift card from JCPenney's.   THANK YOU ALL!
