Greetings!
For many of us, it has been one long, cold winter and we can't wait for spring to arrive! I have witnessed the first little signs of spring with a few random warm days here and there, it is almost here!
It is interesting how much the weather alone can affect us. We may have felt like just curling up inside, eating more warming and fatty foods and spending less time being social. That's ok. Life offers us different seasons for different reasons. Winter is always a good time to do some more self reflection or soul searching, reading good books while enjoying the cozy fireplace and spending more intimate time with family or close friends. All this time inside, void of sunshine and perhaps void of raw fresh fruit and vegetables may have left us looking a little pale and feeling a little less vital...
Let's get into spring mode! The mode of rejuvenation, new energy and a fresh glowing skin again!
♦ Simple ways to improve your skin tone: Focus on eating foods that are LIVE and rich in ANTIOXIDANTS, ENZYMES and ESSENTIAL FATS to help build firm and radiant skin cells! ♦ Some of the most beautifying foods have a few things in common such as: They are alkalizing foods with anti-inflammatory properties. They are rich in minerals such as zinc, sulfur, silicon, manganese and iron and are abundant in antioxidants such as Vitamin A, C and E. ♦ Some of the most beautifying foods are : Coconut oil Turmeric Camu Camu Raw Cacao Raw leafy greens ♦ What you eat is crucial and so is what you drink: Nothing replaces and hydrates you as well as a good amount of pure water! Other good ways to hydrate your skin from within are to drink coconut water, green juices, superfood smoothies and herbal teas. All caffeinated drinks are dehydrating and caffeine has been shown to inhibit DNA repair and slow down the liver's and kidney's ability to detoxify toxins. Caffeine inhibits the absorption of many nutrients as well as causes our body to excrete many of the beautifying minerals and trace minerals. Sugary drinks are also dehydrating and make our skin age faster by changing the structure of collagen. ♦ What you apply topically should be edible: One of the most important things you can do to your skin is be aware of the fact that what you apply on it ends up in your bloodstream and therefore should be just as pure as the foods you eat. My favorite topical moisturizers match my favorite edible moisturizers: - Coconut oil - Cacao butter - Olive oil I use pure water and culinary Rose water as a toner prior to applying the moisturizer. For the face I often use different natural and bio-dynamic skincare brands, that often are a mixture of all my favorite oils and botanicals. One of my favorite local skincare lines are from Elina Organics. |
