Unfortunately antibiotics are too often prescribed when they aren't truly necessary. Not to say there is not a place for them but what you want to focus on, especially during the change of season from warm to cold weather, is PREVENTION.

Boost your body's natural defense system with antiviral and antibacterial foods such as the following:

Eat Foods High in Vitamin C such as Thyme, Parsley, Chili Peppers, Kiwi and Broccoli.

Garlic has two powerful ingredients which produce the wonderful health benefits garlic is known for: Allicin and Diallyl sulphides. Garlic can help prevent many colds and eating garlic daily can also help to reduce the duration and severity of colds when they are contracted.
