SHUTTERBUG MAGAZINE REVIEWS MY TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY!
http://www.ireneabdouphotography.com

Shutterbug Magazine reviews my travel photography in its June 2009 print issue in the article, "Something Old, Something New, Something... What's New and Exciting Around the Web" by Joe Farace.

Mr. Farace writes: "This month's Reader's Homepage belongs to Irene Abdou, a world-traveling photographer and Shutterbug reader whose base is Germantown, Maryland. The first thing you'll notice about Abdou's images are the eyes of the people she photographs. Most of the time, especially with children, they are full of warmth and trust. This says a lot about Abdou as a photographer and as a person. These people who she's photographed in the most Third World of countries look at her with affection and maybe hope; hope that her images will alert the world to their situation and maybe, just maybe, make us care enough to do something..."

Greetings!

After so much travel to Africa in the first half of the year, I must admit that I've been glad to have some time off to just rest and catch up.  Even here at home, though, I'm keeping busy getting my fine art listed in new places, preparing for my sixth fine art exhibit of the year, and launching my new portrait, wedding & event photography website and blog!  I also just returned from a trip to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and am looking forward to my upcoming visit to the national parks of southern Utah!  Plus, my favorite holiday is coming up very soon, and I wanted to take some time to wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving and holiday season!
FEATURED PHOTO
"Chincoteague Sunset" (above) comes from my recent trip to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia.  Thousands of snow geese on calm blue waters, taking off at the same time, then landing in a spiral formation resembling a tornado.  Spectacular!  Visit my blog to view more Chincoteague photos.

A fine art photograph of "Chincoteague Sunset" starts at $195 for an 8x12 print matted to 12x16, with print sizes going up to 40x60!  However, for the next 30 days, I'm offering "Chincoteague Sunset" at a 10% discount at any size!  Contact me at photoswithsoul@gmail.com to purchase!

On Exhibit: Wanderlust
I'm now into my 6th fine art exhibit of the year.  (I think I'll slow down next year!)  Most of my exhibits this year have been solo, two-person, and three-person shows.  My current show which is ongoing now (though the opening reception isn't for a few more weeks), is a three-person show with photographer Peter Manzelli and woodworker Phil Brown.  Peter and I each have 19 photographs in the show.  My section is called, "Wanderlust," and is a mix of images from my "Architecture+Design," "Alternative Reality" infrared landscapes, and "Africa Dreamed"/"Spirit of Humanity" series.  Peter's exhibiting "Cuba: Profiles in Courage," and Phil is showing exquisite vessels of fine-turned wood.

You are invited to the opening reception!  Here are the details:

Exhibit Dates: November 6, 2009 - January 4, 2010
Opening Reception, Tuesday, December 1, 2009, 7:00-8:30 PM
Gaithersburg Arts Barn
311 Kent Square Rd
Gaithersburg, MD 20878

Food and drinks will be served!  Come and meet the artists!
