Replacement Cost to Home

| Auto Insurance
Rental Car Coverage |

If you have physical damage coverage, (comp & collision), on your personal auto insurance policy, the same coverage will apply to a car you rent. However there are some things your insurance normally does not cover:
Loss of use...lost rental income because they could not rent it while it is in the shop being fixed.
Diminutive value...the money the rental car company will lose when they sell the car, because of the damage the accident caused. The difference between what they could have sold the car for before your accident and the actual amount they sell the car for.
Some major credit card companies will provide some sort of rental car coverage, check with yours if they will cover loss of use and diminutive value. Also ask them if they are primary (they cover the damage to the rental car, or secondary, (they only cover after you turn it in to your insurance company...and then may only be for the amount of your deductible).
If you buy the rental car company CDW, (Collision Damage Waiver), it is not insurance. It is an agreement that the rental car company will not hold you liable for any damages to the vehicle. Learn more..about Auto Insurance.

Life Insurance
Term vs Whole Life
|
Term Insurance is a fixed premium over a period of time, 10, 15, or 20 years. If you are still alive at the end of that time, you have nothing. The policy is done, you have no more coverage. Good for specific projects, ie: in case you die before kids finish college the family would lose your income, a ten year term policy would provide the college funds. And term is inexpensive compared to whole life.
Whole life insurance can be a fixed premium over the payment period usually paid up at age 65, then provides coverage to age 90 or 95. It accumulates a cash value which you can borrow against at a very low rate or just cash in the policy if you no longer need it.
Some companies will give you a discount on your home and auto insurance if you also have a life insurance policy with them.
