CodeAthon Contest
All term
Weekly meetings: Tuesdays, 3 to 6 p.m., University Crossings 149
Drexel's Math and Computer Science (MCS) Society is hosting its first ever CodeAthon. Come out and work with fellow students in teams to create mobile apps (iOS, Android, Windows Phone) focused on education. You can make apps to help students study, learn new material or any idea you have that can be applied to education. The CodeAthon will last all term and be judged by professors during the third week of spring term. The contest will focus on documentation as well as coding to give students the full experience on working on a software project in a less stressful environment surrounded by peers. Every Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. seniors Nate Vecchiarelli and Nate Fonseka will be available in University Crossings 149 to help teams plan and create their apps and documentation. Prizes available for the winning team.

Registration (Spring term)
Spring registration opened last week (February 13); however, depending on your classification, you may have a different registration date than other students. Your specific date is listed below:
- Continuing Seniors - February 20
- Honors - February 22
- Juniors - February 23
- Pre-Juniors - February 28
- Sophomores - March 2
- Freshman - March 7-8
Note: Students on co-op cannot be added to classes until the week before the term starts.
A full list of CS/Computing electives for the Spring is on the CS website under Announcements. Notice if you are interested in CS 432 Interactive Graphics, you may need a prerequisite override. We have changed the prerequisite for that course but the paperwork hasn't be processed yet.
Attention 2013 CS graduates: Don't forget that you will need to take CS 350 and MATH 221 in the Spring (if you haven't already) so that you can take CS 451 in the Summer. CS 451 is a prerequisite for senior design (CS 491/2/3) that starts in the Fall.

Need help with classes? Visit the Cyber Learning Center
The Cyber Learning Center (CLC) provides consulting and other learning resources for students taking computer science classes. It's staffed by graduate and undergraduate students employed by the CS Department. Students can receive help during office hours (drop-in or by appointment). Services include review sessions for exams, small group study sessions, homework/lab help, and a mini-library.

- Wednesday and Thursday: 1 to 6 p.m.
- Friday: CLOSED
The hours for CS 121 and 122 are held on the odd weeks of the term, beginning on week 3 (weeks 3, 5, 7, and 9).

PSPE Reading Chapter Engineering Scholarship
Deadline: May 31, 2012
The Reading Chapter of Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers will be awarding a $2,000 scholarship for 2012-2013. The Scholarship is a one time only grant to be provided to an undergraduate engineering student who will be enrolled in the first semester of their second last or final year in the fall of 2012. Academic success, character, personal merit, commitment plus school and community involvements will be the basis for the award. Brown IEEE Robotics Competition
Registration Deadline: March 2, 2012
Brown University's IEEE Chapter is hosting the Brown IEEE Robotics Competition (BIRC), Saturday, April 14, 2012. The competition is open to all university undergraduates, including Drexel University students. This is a great opportunity for any engineering or computer science students to apply their knowledge outside of the classroom. For the competition, teams must design and build an autonomous robot that can navigate a maze. Students will test their ability to work as a team and apply knowledge learned in class. Registration has started and teams can sign up and learn more information here.

Volunteer at the 2012 Greater Philadelphia Sea Perch Challenge
The College of Engineering is looking for volunteers to help out at the 2012 Greater Philadelphia Sea Perch Challenge! Over 50 middle and high school underwater robotics teams will compete for first place and a chance to enter the 2012 Sea Perch Nationals Competition.
The competition will take place on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 8:00-4PM at Drexel University's Daskalakis Athletic Center. Volunteers can sign up to volunteer for either the morning shift (7AM-12PM), afternoon shift (11AM - 4PM), or all day. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt and breakfast/lunch.
Some of the volunteer duties may include:
- Team registration
- Helping teams with dysfunctional robots
- Meet & greet with judges
- Assisting the judges and entertainment (Mario the dragon, etc.)

Work Study Position Available
The Chemical and Biological Engineering department is seeking a work study. The position requires at least 10 hours of work per week; sometimes 15 hours per week. Students must have a work study grant. Students cannot be a CBE Senior. Please see Dorothy Porter in the CBE department in the Center for Automation Technology (CAT Building) room 288 if interested.
