Amazon.com is hosting an information session and has an open position for a Software Development Engineer. Drexel's Math and Computer Science Society (MCS) hosts Christopher Adams, the OnBoarding lead at CIGNA's Technology Early Career Development Program (TECDP) during this information session. He graduated from Drexel with a Bachelor's in Management Information Systems and Finance in 2010. He will be discussing employment opportunities at Cigna and some of the technical challenges they face. Cigna is a global health services company, owing to its expanding international footprint and the fact that it provides administrative services only (not insurance) to approximately 80 percent of its clients. For more information about MCS, click here.

The Internet Society and its Philadelphia Chapter are hosting a one-day seminar, "Maintaining Trust: The Future of  Internet Security and Privacy." Led by industry experts, the  one-day seminar will discuss today's most pressing security and privacy challenges facing businesses, universities, and healthcare facilities today. Keynote speakers include Parry Aftab, a legal and risk-management authority on Internet best practices, privacy, cybercrime prevention, and abuse management and the managing director of WiredTrust, a risk-management consulting firm, and Ari Schwartz, senior Internet policy advisor for the NIST Information Technology Laboratory. Other speakers include Google's vice president and chief Internet evangelist Vinton G. Cerf. The registration fee is $25 for Internet Society members and $50 for nonmembers and includes the program and lunch. Register early as there is limited space. Drexel's Math and Computer Science Society (MCS) hosts Russ Zumwalt from Oracle Primavera, a leading provider of Project Portfolio Management (PPM) solutions for project-intensive industries. He will present a high-level overview of Oracle and the Primavera Global Business Unit (GBU), a brief history, work environment, and culture of the Primavera GBU, skills sought after in their engineering staff, and full-time and co-op opportunities that are available (roles, locations, technologies). For more information about MCS, click here.
Apps for SEPTA Civic Coding Challenge

A weekend-long civic coding event focused on building web, mobile or social applications that use SEPTA data and APIs. Deadline for Fall Term Course Adjustments
The deadline to add/drop a course is this Sunday (October 2) at 11 p.m. If you need academic advisor assistance, you must contact us no later than 4 p.m. this Friday (September 30). 
Note: Dropping a course will result in all evidence of it being removed from the student's transcript. Approval of the instructor is not required for students to drop a course. If you have any questions, please contact your assigned advisor. For additional advising information, click here
Drexel Programming Team Accepting New Members for 2011-12 Academic Year
Attention, Programmers!  Plans are underway to form Drexel's Programming Team. If you are an experienced/highly capable programmer, and would like an opportunity to use your skills for a chance at international competition, please try out for a team. Teams of three students each will be chosen to represent Drexel at two events in the near future. All programming will be done in C, C++, or Java. Undergraduates and graduates of all majors are eligible to participate. Email Dr. Jeff Popyack at jpopyack@cs.drexel.edu if you're interested in becoming a member.
CS Dept. Offers Three CS Students Attendance to Philly Startup Weekend 
Have you ever considered working for a startup company when you graduate? You will not necessarily have to move to San Francisco. And you do not even need to leave campus to test the waters. The CS Department is now offering three CS students the chance to attend the Philadelphia Startup Weekend, Oct. 14-16 at Drexel Earle Mack School of Law. The event gives you an opportunity to get in touch with the Philadelphia startup scene, to pitch your projects, and to show off your skills as a developer. Work Study Positions Available at the iSchool
The iSchool is looking for work-study students to work in the administrative office in the Rush Building. We are looking for Drexel students who are dependable and detail oriented! Responsibilities include Data Entry: Posting jobs on the iSchool jobs website & corresponding with employers; filing, copying/scanning and running errands around campus; other administrative duties assigned. Applicants must be a Drexel student eligible for work-study funds and basic HTML experience required. Salary will be work-study funds.
