DGDG: Philly Game Jam post-mortem and Digital Game Plu-thunk

The Drexel Game Dev Group is returning from the Philly Game Jam! Members will be having a post-mortem about the game created over the weekend in only 48 hours. Also scheduled is a Digital Game Pluthunk! Bring in a favorite digital game such as a flash game, arcade game, facebook game, etc., and discuss why the game makes for good game design. There will be a competition to see who can present the game with the best design aspects. Free pizza and soda provided.

Senior Design Presentations

Senior Design is the capstone experience for all Computer Science and Software Engineering majors in senior year. Student teams create a project developed by CS faculty or external stakeholders and present the final product at the end of spring term. The final four teams will face-off for the chance to enter College of Engineering's competition. Students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend the competition Tuesday, May 24, in Stein Auditorium (Nesbitt Hall) between 6-9 p.m. Dinner will be available between 5-6 p.m

Digital Gaming Seminar: Dr. Eric Klopher

Drexel's School of Education will launch its fourth seminar in the four-part "Digital Games: Teaching, Learning and Assessment Seminar Series" with Dr. Eric Klopfer, associate professor and the director of the MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program and the director of The Education Arcade. His seminar series talk will be centered around mobile learning and games in particular Augmented Reality Gaming (ARG) and the implications for teaching, learning, and assessment especially in K-12. He will also talk about the research around ARG, levels of gameness, and ways to develop ARG technology. Please RSVP to aroutis@drexel.edu with your name, organization, and email. MCS: CompUtition

Drexel's Math and Computer Science Society (MCS) is hosting a CompUtition for all students. The CompUtition is a programming competition where contestants form teams to solve programming problems. The teams that solve the most problems win prizes. Teams can be any reasonable size, or you can work by yourself, but each team only gets to use one computer. Most programming languages can be used. Food and beverages will be available.

Random Hacks of Kindness Hack-a-thon

Random Hacks of Kindness (RHoK) is the brainchild of a dedicated team from Google, Microsoft, Yahoo!, NASA and The World Bank that organizes "hackathon"- marathon hacking events in multiple global locations bringing together developers from all over to hack on real-world problems. In each hachathon, participants work on various problem set for two days and are awarded for their amazing work by the RHoK panel. This year, Drexel is hosting the Philadelphia-area RHoK hackathon. This is a wonderful opportunity for a programmer/designer to contribute to solve a global challenge. Click here to register for the hackathon. PSPE Reading Chapter Engineering Scholarship
Deadline: May 27, 2011
The Reading Chapter of Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers will be awarding a $2,000 scholarship for 2011-2012. The Scholarship is a one time only grant to be provided to an undergraduate engineering student who will be enrolled in the first semester of their second last or final year in the fall of 2011. Academic success, character, personal merit, commitment plus school and community involvements will be the basis for the award.
