Senior Design Final Four Presentations

Senior Design image
The final four teams will compete for the chance to enter College of Engineering's Senior Design contest. Students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend the final four event between The Omnomenon, Mashbot, Mash-up Visual Programming (MVP) Environment and ServiceSNIFFER.
Senior Design is the capstone experience for all Computer Science and Software Engineering majors in senior year. Student teams create a project developed by CS faculty or external stakeholders and present the final product at the end of spring term. To view this year's projects, click here.
IEEE Presents: Jeff Caldwell, Comedian

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) presents Comedian Jeff Caldwell: Some people shouldn't be engineers. The event is free to all drexel students and refreshments will be available. Jeff has performed on Comedy Central, the "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and "Late Show with David Letterman." UPE Spring BBQ
Thursday, May 27 
4 to 6 p.m.

Join Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE) during an end-of-the-year BBQ. All Drexel students, faculty and staff are invited to enjoy a variety of summer food and fun. Computer Science Exit Interviews

As part of our effort to improve the computer science/software engineering program, each year we conduct exit interviews and get your feedback.  Please join us so that you can help us make our program better. It's a great opportunity for you to let us know what you liked and disliked about your entire experience at Drexel.

CoE Senior Design Competition 
Wednesday, June 2 
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Mitchell Auditorium, Bossone Research Enterprise Center
Eight groups will be chosen as representing the best senior design work by their respective departments. The groups will be presenting to a panel of outside judges. Following the presentations, an award ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m .in the Mitchell Auditorium. The students will be sharing $5,000 in prize money for making it to this level in Senior Design. Students, faculty and staff are welcome to cheer on the student teams.
CoE Film Festival
Thursday, June 3

The Engineering Film Festival is an opportunity for Drexel University students to share their engineering experience in video format - along with the opportunity to win great prizes! PSPE Dinner Meeting

Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers Philadelphia Chapter presents Smart Ideas Program (PECO, 7-7:50 p.m.) and Photovoltaic Energy Systems (Instructor Robert Fischl, 8-8:50 p.m.). DVGBC and PSPE Members pay $35, non-members pay $40, engineering students pay $15. All prices include dinner from 6-6:45 p.m. Reservations required! Click here for more information.

The Cyber Learning Center (CLC) provides consulting and other learning resources for students taking computer science classes. It's staffed by graduate and undergraduate students employed by the CS Department. Students can receive help during office hours (drop-in or by appointment). Services include review sessions for exams, small group study sessions, homework/lab help, and a mini-library.
Hours: Mon.-Thurs. 12 to 6 p.m.
Consulting hours for the CS 121-122-123 courses are held on the odd weeks of the term, starting week 3,  Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Graduation Information
The CoE Ceremony is Friday, June 11 at 10 a.m. Cap and gowns can be purchased at the University Bookstore between May 17 and June 4 (bring your student ID). Tickets are available for pick-up with your cap and gown. Each graduate will receive four tickets for guests. Additional tickets may be available. Further information will be announced in late May. Diplomas will be mailed to current mailing addresses. If this address needs to be changed, submit the changes via DrexelOne. If you have any questions, email UC-Degree@drexel.edu. Note to CS (BS) students:
When registering, make sure that you review the elective list when you choose your courses especially Writing/Communications electives.  If you take a course that is not on that list, it will not count.
Note to CS (BS & BA) students:
If you are planning on graduating next year (June 2011), it is very important that you take CS 451 next term (Summer) if you have not taken it already.  CS 451 is a prerequisite for the senior design sequence (CS 491/492/493). Feel free to contact your assigned advisor if you need any help registering or working out a plan of study.

Job Opportunity: Department Lab Assistant and Grader 
Lab assistant and grader positions are available for courses offered through the CS Department. Applicants must maintain a GPA of 3.00 or above and possess people skills. These are paid positions. Photo Competition: The Grand Challenges of Engineering
Submissions Due May 28, 2010
5 p.m.
Center for Automation Technology (CAT), Suite 170
The College of Engineering is now accepting submissions for its Grand Challenges of Engineering Photo Competition. Participation is open to all Drexel students, faculty and staff. Five to 10 photos should be submitted that relate to the Grand Challenges of Engineering. Submissions are due Friday, May 28, 2010 at 5 p.m. in CAT 170 or by email to Chris Hennessy.
The first place winner will receive $500. Second and third place winners will receive $200 and $100 respectively. For rules and more information, please click here or contact Chris Hennessy.
