CS Colloquium: Brian Kettler

Senior Design is the capstone experience for all Computer Science and Software Engineering majors in senior year. Student teams create a project developed by CS faculty or external stakeholders and present the final product at the end of spring term. All students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend the final presentations. To view this year's projects, click here.

The final four teams will compete for the chance to enter College of Engineering's competition. Students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend the competition Tuesday, May 25, in Ruth Auditorium (Nesbitt 125) between 6-9 p.m. Dinner will be available between 5-6 p.m. |

All students, faculty and staff are invited to see guest speaker Marcelo Cataldo, researcher in the Institute for Software Research at Carnegie Mellon University. Marcelo will discuss, "Productivity and Quality in Geographically Distributed Software Development: A Socio-Technical Analysis." The presentation will look at results from a collection of studies that used a socio-technical perspective to examine the relative impact of technical and socio-organizational factors on software development productivity and software quality. The Cyber Learning Center (CLC) provides consulting and other learning resources for students taking computer science classes. It's staffed by graduate and undergraduate students employed by the CS Department. Students can receive help during office hours (drop-in or by appointment). Services include review sessions for exams, small group study sessions, homework/lab help, and a mini-library.
Hours: Mon.-Thurs. 12 to 6 p.m. Consulting hours for the CS 121-122-123 courses are held on the odd weeks of the term, starting week 3, Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Summer registration opened May 3, 2010; however, depending on your classification, you may have a different registration date than other students. Your specific date will be listed below: Continuing seniors - May 10 Honors - May 12 Juniors - May 13 Pre-Juniors - May 18 Sophomores - May 21 Freshman - May 26-27
Note to CS (BS) students:
When registering, make sure that you review the elective list when you choose your courses especially Writing/Communications electives. If you take a course that is not on that list, it will not count.
Note to CS (BS & BA) students:
If you are planning on graduating next year (June 2011), it is very important that you take CS 451 next term (Summer) if you have not taken it already. CS 451 is a prerequisite for the senior design sequence (CS 491/492/493). Feel free to contact your assigned advisor if you need any help registering or working out a plan of study. The CoE Ceremony is Friday, June 11 at 10 a.m. Cap and gowns can be purchased at the University Bookstore between May 17 and June 4 (bring your student ID). Tickets are available for pick-up with your cap and gown. Each graduate will receive four tickets for guests. Additional tickets may be available. Further information will be announced in late May. Diplomas will be mailed to current mailing addresses. If this address needs to be changed, submit the changes via DrexelOne. If you have any questions, email UC-Degree@drexel.edu. The Drexel Women in Computing Society (WiCS) is gearing up for this year's Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, which will be held Sept. 28 - Oct. 2 in Atlanta, Georgia. All female computing majors are encouraged to apply for a scholarship to attend this exciting, inspiring, and educational conference that looks at a variety of professional, academic, technical, and social issues. CoE Film Festival: Call for Submissions

Drexel students are invited to enter the College of Engineering's 3rd Annual Film Festival June 3, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. in the Mitchell Auditorium, Bossone Research Center. The festival is open to all Drexel students, but teams must include one current College of Engineering student. Films should be 3-8 minutes long and relating to the field of engineering or the Drexel engineering experience. Submissions for the film festival are due Friday, May 21, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. in CAT 170. Photo Competition: The Grand Challenges of Engineering

The College of Engineering is now accepting submissions for its Grand Challenges of Engineering Photo Competition. Participation is open to all Drexel students, faculty and staff. Five to 10 photos should be submitted that relate to the Grand Challenges of Engineering. Submissions are due Friday, May 28, 2010 at 5 p.m. in CAT 170 or by email to Chris Hennessy.
