The feeling of community that is so particular to Foote was palpable at Eighth Grade Recognition Day and Ninth Grade Graduation this week. The warmth, the laughter, and in many cases, the tears, are all so much a part of what makes Foote special. I want to thank students, parents, faculty and staff for participating in these memorable events. (See below for photos of Graduation and Eighth Grade Recognition Day.)

Jumping ahead to August, please save the date of Thurs., Aug. 30, at 6 p.m. for an opportunity to meet and chat with our new Head of Lower School Beth Mello in the Perrine Library. All in the school community are invited.

Thank you again for a very successful year at Foote. Have a wonderful summer!

Saying Goodbye Can Be Pretty Funny

The ninth grade Graduation ceremonies combined wit, wisdom, and the occasional hilarious gaffe as 19 ninth graders bade farewell to Foote. A Foote alumnus, John Wareck '84, charmed the graduates and the audience with his delightful admonitions to "Come back to Foote!," and parent Andy Marlatt gave an uproariously funny graduation speech that was (unwittingly) provided by the ninth graders - with a little help from Andy's prodigious creativity.

More graduation photos will be available next week on the Foote School website under School Life/Photo Galleries.

Eighth Grade Recognition Day

More than half the eighth grade is remaining at Foote for ninth grade, with next year's ninth grade class comprising 33 students. Students received a variety of recognitions during ceremonies held Tues., June 12. To the 24 eighth grade students who are moving on, good luck!
