A Busy End
    To the School Year

Much is going on at Foote as the school year winds down, from the Jump Rope for Heart fundraising event in the Hosley Gym last week and the presence of a young lady who took over as head-of-school-for-a-day, to rockets flying in Rike Field, and modern-day interpretations of Greek plays.

Here are a few photos of what's gone on these past several days. More photos appear at the bottom of this E-news in 'A Day in the Life of Foote."

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF FOOTE

Head for a Day

A MAG student stepped in as acting head of school this past Friday as a result of a winning bid by her parents at the PTC's annual fundraising auction, Feast for Foote. She initiated conversations about the possibilities of a swimming pool at Foote ("I get warm," she said), and gumball machines in all the hallways. She also read to kindergartners, sat at the Head's desk, ran meetings, and in all had a highly successful turn as Head.

A Fun and Funny Greek Immersion Day

Fifth graders exhibited their knowledge of Grecian culture, history, and food Wed., June 6, with a groaning board of foods, a hilarious sendup on Greek plays, architectural renderings of famous buildings and more. Excellent work!

Astonishing feats of fundraising

Foote students put some major air between their feet and the floor of the Hosley Gymnasium last week during Jump Rope for Heart, a fundraiser for the American Heart Association. Many, many thanks to all the students and parents who participated and gave to support heart research. (The Athletics Department is no longer accepting donations to Jump Rope for Heart.)

Rocketing Toward Learning

Tim Blauvelt's science classes built and shot off paper rockets on the new athletic field last week, with many successful flights and some that found a wet demise in the swamp at the edge of the field. Like the Wright Brothers, continued efforts made for a successful result.
