| Grandparents Day is October 14 |
Grandparents Day is Fri., Oct. 14. We look forward to seeing grandparents and special friends during this wonderful event. Please check with them to ensure that they have responded to our invitation. This enables us to assign a volunteer and have a schedule ready for them. If you have questions or need to register a grandparent or special friend, please email Maria Granquist in the Development Office or call 203-777-3464 ext. 209. Volunteers are still needed. Please contact Maria if you are able to volunteer that day.

| Join In a Multicultural Exercise That Benefits Us All |
The soon-to-be-renamed Multicultural Affairs Committee would like to welcome all parents, faculty, administrators, and Board members to its first meeting of the school year at 7 p.m. Wed., Nov. 16, in the Perrine Library. Discover new developments that are planned for the year, and participate in a presentation by Foote parent Kirk Hooks, Yale University organizational development consultant. Kirk has used cultural sharing and active listening with small and large groups to: - Develop greater communication and observation skills
- Increase appreciation of cultural differences and similarities between our family rules and practices
- Strengthen relationships among members of diverse communities.

| Book Fair 2011: Mark Your Calendars |
Book Fair 2011 is almost here!
Nov. 7: Store event at R.J. Julia: great for Holiday shopping! You can go to the bookstore and buy anything (books, wrapping paper, gifts, games, cards), and Foote will receive 20 percent of your purchases. Nov. 7-Nov. 9: Book Fair at Foote in the Twichell Room. Watch this space for more information as the date nears. The Author Event on the evening of Nov. 9 will feature Debbie Freedman, a former parent and terrific friend to the school.

| This Season's Theater Production: "A Christmas Carol" |
The seventh/eighth grade production is Charles Dickens's immortal "A Christmas Carol," to be presented Dec. 8 - Dec. 11. The rehearsal schedule for "A Christmas Carol" will be updated and posted weekly on the Week at a Glance page in the drop-down menu under News and Calendars on the website, and on the Parents page on the site. The schedule also will be included in the eNews each week. A letter providing numerous details regarding the production will be arriving at students' homes within the next week. |
| PTC News: Of Architects, Auctions and A+ Rewards |
The PTC welcomes architect Maryann Thompson and project manager Martha Foss to its October 12 meeting. Maryann is the creative mind behind the Jonathan Milikowsky Science and Technology Building, scheduled to open at the start of the 2012 school year. The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. in Room A-200, Steinen's art room. The Spring Auction will be here before long! A meeting for all those interested in participating in auction planning will be held at 2 p.m. on Mon., Oct. 17, in the conference room across from the head of school's office. This is the PTC's largest fundraiser of the year. It's also a great way to meet new people, plan a wonderful event and support Foote School. All are welcome! Stop & Shop has launched its A+ School Rewards Program for the 2011-2012 school year. Please help Foote earn free money! Register your Stop & Shop card, and every time you shop you earn money for Foote. Even if you registered last year, you must re-register this year to participate. Information and Deadlines for the 9th Grade

An email was sent home earlier this week with important information and deadlines for ninth graders.
For the New York City trip Tues., Oct. 11: - We will be meeting at New Haven's Union Station (not at Foote School) at 7:45 a.m. and returning to the train station at 7:49 p.m. This arrangement is a little tricky, because the trip follows the three-day weekend, so please mark your calendars!
For the China trip: By Thurs., Nov. 10:
- Students must declare their intent to participate. Please click here for the form.
- Apply for financial aid through Kelly Small (call or stop in).
By Fri., Dec. 2:
- Submit current passport to Deb Riding. Passports must be valid through Sept. 20, 2012.
