presents aromas of blackberry, mulberry, plum and black cherry. On the palate,

Weekend Tasting!!
Quinta Ferreira!!
"...Sold Out at the winery..."
"Join us this Saturday
from 2 till 5 pm as we welcome Nicole Ferreira for a tasting of her family's
wines at the shop. John and Maria Ferreira, both born in Portugal, immigrated
to Canada with their families at a young age. They purchased this estate in
1979 as an orchard where they grew cherries, peaches and apples. The conversion
of fruit to wine was done over a three-year period with the first Merlot and Chardonnay
grapes being planted in 1999, additional varietals following later.
We will begin with
the 2008 Mistura Branca ($19.90). This German blend of 65% Muscat and 35%
Gewurztraminer has a vibrant perfume and floral petal aroma that is enriched
with citrus, apricot, papaya and vanilla flavours.
Next is the 2008 Viognier
($19.90). This wine exhibits intense aromas of white peach and tropical fruit
with an array of different spices and a hint of coconut and vanilla. It's delicately
balanced with a rich buttery and spicy finish. Only 165 cases were produced.
The 2007 Merlot ($24.90)
is up next. This wine is very rich in color with intense aromas of vanilla,
black cherry, cinnamon, and clove. It shows soft tannins with flavours of black
pepper and chocolate on the finish.
Finally we will sample
the 2007 Syrah ($24.90). This has intense black peppercorn with aromas of
blackberry, raspberry jam and black cherry leading to spicy and toasty notes of
vanilla, chocolate, coffee and hazelnut on the palate. Just 430 cases produced
- Sold Out at the winery!
