We've got a great line-up of reds for the weekend BBQ! Come get a taste and see what you can add to that BBQ to spice up the party!
Also, no pics this time... We had a great time with the Mayor of West Vancouver over at our store for a tasting party and what a time for my camera to break down on me... >.<"

Weekend Tasting!!
BBQ Reds!!
"...Bring on the steaks..."
"Join us this
weekend as we sample a group of great BBQ Reds! Summer is reluctantly arriving
and as we turn to outdoor cooking, we need the right wines to match with
grilled meats. This means wines with full flavours, but enough balancing
acidity to stand up to the smoke, barbeque sauce, rubs and other strong
flavours.
We will begin with
the 2006 Prospect Winery Red Willow Shiraz ($16.99). This is balanced and rich
in texture, with a lively blast of blackberry and dark cherry. The wine is
highlighted with white pepper notes and a lingering finish. It would be great
with burgers, spicy chicken or ribs!
Next is the 2007
Cedar Creek Pinot Noir ($26.90). This is rich garnet in colour with strawberry,
raspberry, spice and red cherry aromas leading to nutmeg, cloves and spice on the
palate. It has soft silky tannins with a lingering finish. Great with barbecued
chicken or pork or even grilled sockeye!
The 2008 Twisted
Tree Gamay Noir ($17.90) is next. Red and black cherry dominate on both nose
and palate, followed by notes of black currant, rose petal and hints of anise.
The wine is silky in texture, medium bodied, and has soft ripe tannins. This
would nicely match barbecued chicken, Italian sausage or ribs!
Finally we will
taste the 2005 Jackson-Triggs Grand Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ($19.99). Rich garnet in colour, this wine's nose is dominated by ripe
fruit-forward aromas of blackcurrant and blueberry, spiced with accents of
clove, vanilla and oak. Full bodied flavours of cassis, black cherry, and cocoa
are supported by fine tannins. Bring on the steaks!
