Greetings! Finally, the sun has been coming out more often. Time to get the patio chairs dusted out and ready and get that grill primed up! We're into our summer hours now so we'll be open an hour later from Thursday thru to Saturday. An extra hour to get that Rosé for the bbq party~ Also, our new website is up. Weekend Tasting!!
Pinot Gris Throwdown!!
"...vanilla, peach pit and spice..."
"Join us this
weekend for our annual Pinot Gris Throwdown! Summer has to arrive sooner or
later and we will be ready for it with these light yet flavourful wines that
taste so good in the warmer weather. Researchers at UC Davis have concluded that Pinot Gris is actually a mutant clone of the Pinot
Noir grape. The leaves and the vines of both grapes are so
similar that the colouration difference is the only way to tell them apart.
We will
begin with the 2006 Desert Hills Pinot Gris ($18.80). This wine shows light citrus,
pear, pineapple, and green apple flavors with hints of butterscotch on the
finish.
The 2008
Dirty Laundry Pinot Gris ($ 18.99) is fresh and lively with flavours of nectarines and apple and a crisp citrus
finish.
Next is the 2008
Mt. Boucherie Pinot Gris ($15.99). This refreshing, crisp white has aromas and
flavours of pear with a hint of honey and apple, accompanied by a long clean
finish.
We
will end with the 2008 See Ya Later Ranch Pinot Gris ($ 19.99). This wine shows good colour with a light pink tinge, a
rich complex nose, and flavours of vanilla, peach pit and spice.
