Midweek Tasting Red Rooster~!!

"...blossoms
and a touch of banana..."
"Join us beginning
Tuesday as we taste the 2007 Red Rooster Bantam ($13.99). This is a delicious blend
of Muller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Gewürztraminer. Delicate notes
of apple, star-fruit, blossoms and a touch of banana rise from the glass. This
is a light to medium-bodied, off-dry, wine with flavours of pear, citrus and
honeydew melon. Sweet orange and tropical fruit flavours linger on the finish.
It won Gold/Best in Category at the All Canadian Wine Championships!
See You Here!"

This Weekend - Blends!! Midweek - Red Rooster!! New Wines!!!
|
Greetings! I apologize for resending this out to you. A customer had informed me that they got a repost of last weeks e-newsletter. Apparently, I was unsuccessful in saving the text version copy correctly, so those of you who opted for the text only version got a resend of last weeks e-mail.
Also, it's "New Wines"... not "Price Reductions"... the title didn't save either...
If you read the html version, please disregard this e-mail., as the only change is the title for New Wines instead of Price Reductions. Since I cannot see who has opted for which, I've had to resend this out to everyone again.
Once again, sorry for the inconvenience! And a great thanks for the reader who advised me of my error so quickly.
Cheers, Simon Chang & the BWC Gang

Weekend Tasting!!
Blended Wines!! "...vanilla,
raspberry, chocolate..."
"Join us this weekend
as we explore the world of Blends!Wines are blended for a number of reasons. In the case of the most inexpensive wines, it's
generally to mask the deficiencies of the individual components; grapes that are
too harsh or too soft are blended to achieve a more mellow whole. Similarly in
more serious wines, the components are blended to achieve a more interesting
and complex result than would be achieved by using only one grape variety. There
are some varieties such as Pinot Noir and Riesling that are virtually never
improved by blending, but they are the exceptions. We will begin with the 2009 Road 13
Stemwinder ($21.99). Winemaker Mike Bartier
strives to make a wine that is much greater than the sum of its parts. He
believes blending is primarily about bringing complexity; it's about building
layers. This blend consists of 60% Chardonnay, 32% Sauvignon Blanc and 8%
Chardonnay Musqué (a more aromatic clone of Chardonnay). The wine shows citrus
and flint as well as tropical fruit flavours.
Next is the 2008 Road 13 Rockpile
($24.99). This is made up of 60% Syrah, 19% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6%
Cabernet Franc, 2% Zinfandel, 1% Viognier, 1% Grenache and 1% Mourvedre. Whew! The 2007 Twisted Tree Second Crossing
Long Creek Red ($17.90) is a very interesting blend of 50% Tannat, plus equal portions of Merlot, Cabernet
Sauvignon, and Malbec. This soft rich red shows flavours of plums, chocolate
and spice. Finally we will taste a more conventional blend,
the 2007 Pétales d'Osoyoos ($25.00). This is made from all five of the
traditional Bordeaux varieties, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc,
Malbec and Petite Verdot and displays aromas and flavours of vanilla,
raspberry, chocolate and spice with a velvety texture.
See You Here!"
