($21.95). This year the blend is 62% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 18%
Cabernet Franc. The wine shows flavours of black cherry, plum, black currant
and spice.

Weekend Tasting!!
Cassini Cellars!!

"Join
us this weekend as we sample the wines from a brand new winery, Cassini
Cellars! Situated on the Golden Mile just south of Oliver, the wines are made
by consulting winemaker Philip Soo, whose other clients include Noble Ridge and
Dirty Laundry.
We will begin with the 2008 Pinot Gris ($11.90). This is made in
a fresh crisp style with aromas of citrus, pear and apple with a hint of grass.
The finish is clean and lingers with a hint of lemon zest. Fresh B.C. seafood
anyone?
The 2007 Gewurztraminer ($14.90) is next. John Schreiner describes it
as follows "A very attractive example of this varietal. The spicy aroma jumps
from the glass. On the palate, there is luscious sweet tropical fruit, The
finish is rich, in the style of Alsace."
We will move on to the 2008 Tuxedo Shiraz ($14.90). This fruit forward
wine shows aromas of black cherry, currants, pepper, spice and a hint of
violet. It has soft tannins and shows berry notes, vanilla and cocoa on the
finish.
The 2007 Merlot ($17.90) is a dark concentrated wine with aromas of
black currant and spice. The flavours suggest red berries, cocoa and perhaps a
trace of anise. This is a solid line up of very well made and extremely
attractively priced wines!
