Nonprofit Social Media Study Release |
Nonprofits continued to increase their use of commercial social networks with Facebook and Twitter proving to be the preferred networks according to a study released by NTEN, Common Knowledge, and ThePort Network. The Nonprofit Social Networking Benchmark Report reports that Facebook is still used by more nonprofits than any other commercial social network with more than 86% of nonprofits indicating that they have a presence on this network. One-half of organizations indicate that they will increase employee staffing related to commercial social networks in the coming 12 months, and one in five will increase funding for external resources such as consultants, designers and programmers.

Building an Exceptional Volunteer Program |
Tuesday, May 22, 2012
9 am to 4 pm
Northwestern Michigan College University Center, Room 5
Trainer: Pam Evans, NorthSky Consultant
Fee: $55, continental breakfast and lunch provided
Exceptional volunteer programs are easy to spot. Those are the programs with plenty of volunteers who stay around for a long time and perform a vast array of tasks throughout the organization. They are the organizations with enthusiastic and energetic volunteers from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
We will spend the day reviewing the best practices of exceptional volunteer programs, including how they recruit, manage, develop, and retain their volunteers. We will also review the role technology and systems play in volunteer management and how to work with the "non traditional" volunteer. This session will be interactive with plenty of time to discuss and use new tools and techniques.
Designed for entry to mid-level practitioners and volunteers.
