Exercise Caution in Accepting Online Donations

If your website has a "DONATE NOW" button you may be creating a problem that you never anticipated. Assume that you have a charitable solicitation license for Michigan only. While you are not intentionally soliciting revenues outside of Michigan, an out-of-state resident donates online to your organization. According to the statutes of the donor's State, you have just violated their State Solicitation of Funds Registration Statute. With today's aggressive enforcement policy, fines in the $15,000 range, per donation or violation can be assessed.

The solution for your nonprofit may be to file a unified registration statement. For further information [CLICK HERE

What can a secure social media platform mean for your nonprofit?

Last week I talked about how social media platforms could help us work together in new ways, but it will also have an impact on how and what we know about each other. Social media provides us a new way to get to know and understand our colleagues, collaborators, clients, and supporters.

Scholarships Available for NorthSky Pilot Executive Coaching Program

Executive coaching is defined as a one-on-one confidential relationship that supports, encourages and challenges leaders to move forward and take action. For-profit leaders have been utilizing coaching as an effective method of growing their top performers and now the nonprofit sector is beginning to do the same.

Starting in January, 2012, NorthSky Nonprofit Network is offering leaders the opportunity to be part of a pilot program to determine the impact of coaching on nonprofit leaders and their organizations. This is a chance to work with an executive coach in reaching your personal and professional goals. Scholarships will be available through Rotary Charities

The program will be led by Lucille Chrisman, a professionally trained executive coach from the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and a member of the International Coach Federation.
