Lights, Camera, Boats!
 
 
Saturday, December 5 @ 6:00 PM
 
Boat lovers will be thrilled by this spectacular lighted boat parade hosted by Offshore Outlaws. The boat parade will begin at the Fort McAllister State Park pier and end at the last house on the point. Judges will be located at the Fort McAllister Marina and awards will be presented to the best in show. Attractions will include live music, food, fireworks, and beverages after the parade. Contact John at (912) 547-0149 for more information. Come join the fun!

Brochures and flyers about local activities and events are available at the information desk at City Hall.  A self-serve brochure rack has maps and event information available for free.  Please contact the CVB for help in getting your brochure added to the rack or your event listed on our website.

Greetings!

Season's greetings from the CVB!
 
The month of December is a busy one in Richmond Hill!  The CVB news is jam packed with tons of activities and ways to get into the holiday spirit.  If you have never taken part in some of these things, or if it has been awhile since you did, I suggest you come out and experience all of the great things Richmond Hill has to offer to visitors and locals alike.  This month you can:
 
* Try some wonderful new chili recipes at the Chili Cook-off
* Hear some great live music at the new Richmond Hill Amphitheater Ribbon Cutting
* Watch a great hometown parade and get some treats from Santa
* Have your kids experience a real snowball fight
* Get new gift ideas from a real hometown craft fair
* Do some early shopping in our  many quaint local shops 
* Satisfy the looky-loo in you and tour some of the beautiful homes in our community
* Spend the evening watching holiday lights meander down the Ogeechee
* Watch a great holiday movie under the stars while sipping some hot chocolate or eating chocolate ice cream
* Take your kids to the Winter Muster and let them experience the life of a Confederate soldier
 
Take a moment to read more about all of the ways that you can come home for the holidays and see your community in a whole new light!

This year's chili cook-off is going to be bigger than ever! Not only will you get to eat some great food, you will also be treated to a wide variety of entertainment under the pavilion and at the new Amphitheater at J. F. Gregory.  Read more.....

Richmond Hill Holiday Tour of Homes!
 
 
This year's Holiday Tour of Homes will be held on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 6th, from 1:00-5:00 P.M.  The five private homes will be lavishly decorated for the holidays, each expressing the individual homeowner's special flair. Also in this tour will be "The Rabbit Hill Diner", a unique building outfitted with Coca Cola memorabilia, St. Anne Historical Chapel, and the Richmond Hill Historical Society Museum.
Advance tickets will be available at the Historical Society Museum for $25.00, and may be reserved by phone (912) 756-3697.  A lovely tea, hosted by St. Anne CCW, will be served throughout the tour hours, and is included in the ticket price. Tickets will be $30.00 on the day of the tour.

Proceeds from ticket sales are shared by the five sponsoring civic organizations: Arts on the Coast, the Richmond Hill Historical Society, Friends of the Library, Garden Club, and St. Anne CCW, and are used for programs to benefit the Richmond Hill community.
 
An additional treat this year is a raffle. The prizes will include a catered dinner for 6, a weekend getaway at an oceanfront condo in Cocoa Beach, Florida, and a $50.00 gift certificate to Fishtales restaurant.
 
Get in the holiday spirit by touring some of the beautiful homes we have right here in our community! 
Experience Life at the Fort
 
Captured Fort 
 
The Winter Muster and Battle of Fort McAllister will be held on Saturday December 12, 2009.  The event will last from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 that evening.  Throughout the day guests will be able to witness the final preparations of the Confederate garrison in anticipation of the attack of the Union army.  The short yet fierce final battle of Sherman's March to the Sea will be reenacted from 4:00pm till 5:00 P.M. 
 
Following the battle, a self guided  tour will be led at 5:00 P.M.  You are invited to come experience the sights and sounds of Civil War living, as well as, the smell of battle.   
 
Fort McAllister State Historic Park is located on Spur 144 in Richmond Hill, Georgia. 
 
Admission for this event is $5.00 for adults and $3.50 for children.  Call (912) 727-2339 for tour information.
