Richmond Hill CVB News

Greetings!

My favorite time of year has finally arrived in Richmond Hill...FALL!  The cool morning breezes and warm days are the best.

The other sign that fall has arrived is that the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival is just a couple of weeks away.  The festival is our biggest event here in Richmond Hill.  The RHBC Chamber works hard all year putting this great event together, and I want to say thanks for all of the time and effort they put into making this such a fun event for everyone in our community and along the GA Coast!  Read the article that follows for some stats about the Seafood Festival and how it impacts our community.

Announcing the RHCVB .mobi Site!

Right now you are asking yourself, "What is a mobi site anyway, a place where you go to whale watch?"  No, it is a website that is optimized to be seen on a mobile device, such as a Blackberry or I-Phone.  These sights are the newest trend in information sharing.  You will be hearing more and more about them.

The Richmond Hill Convention and Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce that we will be going live with our own .mobi site in the next few weeks.

The site will have Richmond Hill information on:

-Where to stay
-Where to eat
-Where to shop
-What to do

The information available on the .mobi site is downloaded directly from our website www.richmondhillvisit.com, so if you fall into one of the above categories and are not a registered business on our site, you might want to become one asap.  Call me if you need help in doing this.  If you are on our site, you automatically will get a basic listing on the .mobi site. Opportunities to upgrade your listing will be available also, so contact me if you are interested in more information about this.

In the coming months, I will have more information about .mobi sites and how small businesses can incorporate this technology into their overall marketing strategy.

The 11th Annual Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival is Here!

The Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival is held every year on the third weekend in October.  The festival features headlining music acts, rides, a car show, craft and business booths, and some great seafood.  This year's Seafood Festival promises to be better than ever.  There are two exciting musical acts and the food, craft, and business booths are sold out.

Each year the Seafood Festival not only provides a great weekend activity for residents and visitors, but it also has a big impact on the local economy. Here are some things you may not know about the Seafood Festival and its impact:

-2009 is the 11th consecutive year of the festival
-Attendance in 2007 was 32,000
-Attendance in 2008 was 35,000+
-The average amount spent by a family of 4 in 2008 was $172
-The economic impact of this event on our community is approximately $1 Million
-Hundreds of volunteers give thousands of hours of their time to make the event a success
-The festival is the main source of funding for the RHBC Chamber and many or our local non-profit organizations

So, come on by and have some fun at this year's Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival!  When you do, you are not only having a great time, but you are also supporting the people and businesses in our community.
