A new attraction at TELUS World of Science
is so exciting it'll fry your Motherboard!
Edmonton, AB -- For decades robots have been the fascination of young and old alike. No surprise that so many movies and TV shows make robots the stars, from The Robot in ' Lost in Space', Sonny in 'I, Robot; to Robby from 'The Forbidden Planet' and C-3P0 and R2-D2 in 'Star Wars'. Robots are powerful robotic images they are not only fictional, they also really exist.
And now, TELUS World of Science has given one robot a home in The Body Fantastic - Health Gallery; RoboThespianTM is a life sized, humanoid, interactive robot, created to move, speak, communicate, interact and entertain. Visitors will be able to control and interact with the robot via an attached touch screen kiosk.
This permanent addition to our facility is the first of its kind in Canada, and will be only the third RoboThespian TM in North America.
The RoboThespian TM is an example of a socially interactive robot. These robots have complex and engaging personalities, a realistic, developing personality, and rich, friendly dialogue and appearance. The robot is created to enable it to mimic normal human behavior. Humans have all sorts of conventions that make integration easier, including how to pass each other in hallways, how to go through doors and in and out of elevators, and how to enter and wait in line. The RoboThespian TM will engage visitors by mimicking their bodily expressions and movements.
Designed for human-robot interaction RoboThespian TM is highly expressive both verbally and non-verbally through lifelike movements. Click here to take a look.
