What Is Scheduling?
You will be given the chance to select a thirty minute time slot for each subject each of our two Center class days (Tuesdays and Saturdays). Your unior Kumon child will attend Kumon at the same time each week during your personal thirty minute time slot, thus ensuring the highest quality of attention.
Why the Change?
Junior Kumon (JK) is unique in that it provides much more individualized attention during class than the other two areas do. These children need more assistance to sound out words and to keep on task. Accordingly, when many JK children come at the same time we are not able to give each the high quality of attention which I feel is appropriate for an effective Center session. By scheduling these students, we will even the flow of students and refine the attention given each student with our best trained JK assistants each time.
When Will Scheduling Start?
Scheduled sessions start on Tuesday, June 7, at Kumon Steeplechase. Each session will be half

an hour long per subject. Students arriving that day without having scheduled a session will be accommodated on a space-available basis.
How Can I Schedule My Child's Session?
It's easy! Just click here to launch our online scheduler. Select your preferred times for Tuesday and Saturday. Please enter the STUDENT'S name, and your email and phone number. WRITE THE WORD "RECURRING" in the Special Requests box. When we receive the reservation, we will alter it to reserve those sessions for the same day/time weekly. If you have more than one JK student, please schedule a slot for each. If your child is enrolled in both subjects, you would need to schedule back to back slots for your child.
What If I Can't Make My Child's Scheduled Session?
Not a problem. If you want to schedule an alternate session at any time, please simply go back to the link above, or navigate through www.KumonFS.genbook.com and choose Junior Kumon under the Service Category listing on the left of the screen. Choose SC Junior Kumon then select No Preference on Staff Member. You can schedule your child for an alternate class. Unless we see a note to the contrary in the Messages section, we will assume you want the change only for that week. If you want to make the change recurring, please say so in the Special Request section. It would also be helpful if you would cancel your child's originally scheduled session for that day by following the link in your reminder email.
What If I'm Not Comfortable Scheduling Online?
Not a problem. Please refer to the attached document. Give us your top three preferred time slots for Math and/or Reading for each student, and turn this in to the reception personnel.
What If I Don't Want My Child To Be Scheduled?
While I believe strongly from having talked with other top Instructors that this change will improve JK instructional quality, I understand some people may not wish to schedule their children. If your child does not have a scheduled appointment, s/he will be handled as a walk-in and will be seated on a space-available basis at one of our three JK tables. If your child is at least in Level A Math or Level AI Reading, s/he may move to our transition area, where we start encouraging more independence for the students. Students in this area are not scheduled.
Remember: mastery is a function of accuracy, independence and speed. Ultimately each child needs to show independence in order to realize the true benefits of Kumon.
