Greetings!

On Sunday, July 25, at 5:00 pm at Steeplechase, I will be presenting a program explaining the benefits of completing the Kumon Reading Program. Please make plans to attend this important event!

Due to popular request, we will also offer another screening of 2 Million Minutes, comparing the education in the US to that in India and China, on Sunday, August 8, in Fairfield. More information on both these events will be coming soon.

This is a really fun way to introduce your child to Kumon students from other countries. It's reassuring to learn that even the children in Malaysia and England struggle with Level D long division. A lot of upper level students and parents also share their insights and enthusiasm for the Program.

Summer: A Great Time to Modify Lesson Plans!
Motivated students can make great progress this summer.

An increased workload can help students, particularly the older ones, make some great forward progress during the summer.

I recommend the increased workload only for those students who are willing. Sometimes the additional work upsets the student and they stop doing Kumon entirely, which completely defeats the purpose. I don't want to burn anyone out and this method, though effective, can lead to a student quitting if not handled carefully.

For those highly motivated students who rise to a challenge and recognize it is only for two months but it will jet propel them forward in their studies, this is often a great option. Please schedule a Parent Meeting with me should you desire to increase your child's workload temporarily.

it's not just Kumon North America who has a Facebook page; we have our own as well. Come join us on line1 We don't have many fans yet Find us on Facebookbut I'd like to have enough of you on there that we can have questions and answers, information about events, and discussions about areas you're struggling with in your child's Kumon (like the long division in Level D). This can be a great support group because no matter what you're dealing with, there is almost certainly another family in one of our Centers who has dealt with the same thing. Come join the fun!
