 trophiesGreetings!

April brings our Annual Awards Ceremony! PLEASE take the time to see whether your child will be honored at this ceremony by checking our trophy list HERE. If you feel a mistake has been made, PLEASE contact me as soon as possible so I can rectify it before the Ceremony. I don't want any broken hearts!

More details on the Ceremony are below and on our web site.
theater Our Annual Awards Ceremony is Coming April 18!
Don't forget our Annual Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 12:30 p.m. at the beautiful Berry Center, located at the corner of West and Barker-Cypress. (There will be no class at the Center that day.) You may arrive as early as noon to check in. Please feel free to invite your child's teacher to share in this honor. This year we will be awarding trophies for Honor Roll, G by 5, Enrollment of four to seven years at Kumon Steeplechase, Completion of Math Level J, and Program Completion.

We will also feature a short 12 minute film I am sure you and your children will find motivating, and a cake and punch/coffee reception afterwards.

Please note we will not be handing out Level Completion certificates at the Ceremony as I have found that my handing them out as the student earns them is more motivating. Thus, while students not receiving trophies are encouraged to attend to see what our Awards program looks like, please prepare them that they will not be recognized.

PLEASE refer to our list of students receiving trophies by clicking here. Make sure that you know what your child is receiving. If you believe we have made an error, please inform me as soon as possible and regardless before the Ceremony so that no child will be disappointed on what should be a really happy and inspiring day.

Movie Night at Kumon Steeplechase
High School: US vs. India and China

On Tuesday, March 31, we will be showing Two Million Minutes at Kumon Steeplechase. This 54 minute film examines the daily lives of two students from each of China, India and the USA and compares the academic rigors they face. What this film reveals may surprise and possibly concern you. The title comes from the calculation that four years of high school equates to about two million minutes.

Please take just two minutes of your time to click here and see the trailer for this important documentary. You may also wish to visit the web site which tracks the acclaim with which this film has been received. I showed this film to my employees and they were quite moved by it.

It is our responsibility as parents and as Americans to ensure that our children are as prepared as possible to take their places in the world as engineers, educators, scientists, physicians, innovators, and other responsible citizens.

We are proud to be offering this film at no cost on the evening of Tuesday, March 31. There will be two showings: one at 6:00 pm and one at 7:30. Due to the limited seating in our Center, however, the 7:30 p.m. showing is fully booked. A few seats remain for the 6;00 showing.

Due to the tremendous popularity of this documentary, we will show it again in May. Watch for the date and time in an upcoming email.
