"Sticking with it" is what makes Kumon work so well. That means doing Kumon every day, even during the summer and other holidays!

 

Throughout the summer months the average student forgets 60% of the math and reading skills developed during the school year. Kumon can help students retain this knowledge during the summer months and remain sharp for the upcoming year.

Many factors work together to make Kumon the successful supplemental program that it is. The very small, gredual steps that make up the worksheets, the repetition used to master each concept, and the individalized progress of each child are all very important parts of the Kumon method. However, two key aspects--consistency and long term study-- are factors that are crucial to success in Kumon. These aspects set Kumon apart from school or other tutoring-type programs.

In many ways, Kumon can be more accurately compared to music lessons than to traditional tutoring. When children begin learning a musical instrument, results are not immediately expected nor are they immediately apparent. All parents know that it will be several years before it aactually becomes enjoyable even to listen to their children practice! Kumon works the same way. With daily practice, patience and repetition of material until it is mastered, and commitment on the part of both parents and students, the rewards are there for the taking!
