Souper Bowl
On Sunday, Feb. 1st the youth will be collecting money after worship to help feed the hungry. This is part of a national event called "Souper Bowl of Caring" which raised $9 million last year! |
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Feed
Come join us on Tuesday, February 24th from 5:30 until 7:00 PM for the annual pancake feed! We will have chocolate chip pancakes again. We will also dump syrup, etc. on someone's head again as part of the fun. Note that the time changed after the Light was printed. It will start at 5:30PM. A free will offering will go to charity. |
JH "Let's Be Real" Study
On Friday, Feb. 6th and Saturday, Feb. 7th we will be having our bi-annual JH sexuality study. Cost is $15 and a form needs to be filled out as well. There was a parent meeting on Sunday, Jan. 25th, but if you missed and still want to have youth attend, please talk to Pastor Charles or Brian. This is a very important class. 6:30-9:00 Fri. night and 9:30 AM-7:00 PM on Sat. Please ask for more details. |
January Review
We had two lock-ins! The SH one went really well with 23 youth doing a scavenger hunt around the city, playing games, talking about how they see God, and a lot more. The JH one is after the newsletter deadline, but we are expecting 35 kids from 3-4 churches. Cosmic Bowling, games, Bible study, etc. The JH also had a Bunco fun night with 10 youth including 3 new visitors and we had a family movie night with about 16 people.

Valentine's Dinner
Well, we have officially registered 14 youth and 3 adults for the gathering! This month is one of our biggest fundraisers the Valentine's Dinner on Sunday, Feb. 15th from 5-7:30 PM. We need all SH youth to help with dinner. We also need each family of youth going to provide an appetizer or dessert. For those going to the dinner the cost is $10 per person and there will also be a dessert auction. Come join us for a fun evening.

Senior High Snow Trip
 We will meet at the church on Friday, Feb. 20th at 4 PM to head over to Sunriver. We will return around 4 PM on Sunday, Feb. 22nd. Cost is just $5 for the trip itself (due to the church) and skiing, tubing, etc. is at your own cost (lift tickets are almost $60 but tubing is $20). We will be staying at Jim and Wendie Brown's home. More information will be in the mail and an evite. We might be limited to how many we can take, so sign up right away. No later than Feb. 15th. We will need drivers with snow tires or chains. |
Miscellaneous
Confirmation Camp
Sign up for camp through www.lutherwood.org now. Our group is going July 5th-10th. You can sign up online or print off the forms and send them to Lutherwood. This is a great trip for the youth and an important part of Confirmation. More details are in the mail
Garage Sale
The youth are doing a sale in May. We are not accepting donations until May, but start thinking about what you may want to donate.
"Mad Props"
If you have funny clothes, hats, glasses, wigs, etc. that you don't use anymore, please let Brian know. We want to collect some props for skits, etc. that we do with the youth. Please contact Brian. | |
