Communicating Christ's Light

Welcome to our first installment of Milwaukie Lutheran E-News!  I am really excited about this great opportunity to share with the world Christ's light through Milwaukie Lutheran Church.  This is our first endeavor into a new form of communication.  A special thank you goes to Lisaana Morley and Scott Borison for their time and enthusiasm in this project.  You can forward this newsletter to anyone who has an email address.  Why not send one to a student off at college, a friend or family member?

If you have received this e-mail as a forwarded message, use the "Subscribe to" link found at the top, or use the "Join our Mailing List" button under the Regular Services article block to the left.  If you prefer to remove yourself from the mailing list, go to the bottom of this newsletter and hit "SafeUnsubscribe".

I look forward to exploring new ways to get the word out as we move into the future.

God's Peace Be With You!

NEWS OF MLC'S FAMILY

Welcome New Members

D.Anderson
Dorothy (Dot) Anderson
I was born in Superior, Nebraska to Loren and Irene Leslie, a Presbyterian family.  Moved to Eugene, Oregon in 1942 and attended Central Presbyterian Church.  Graduated from Eugene High School, married Ron Haney and had four children.  Moved to Spokane, Washington for four years and then to Milwaukie.  Cancer took Ron in 1988.  Married Vic Anderson in 1997, who introduced me to the Lutheran church.  We lived in Vancouver, Washington and attended Grace Lutheran until Vic's passing in 2006.
I sold our  Vancouver home and moved in with my son and his wife where I now reside.  Met Gloria Stevens at the hairdresser's and she invited me to visit Milwaukie Lutheran.  The rest is history...
Chad Zabel, Betty Berg, Shirley Meyer, members of Naomi Circle and members  of the Tuesday Morning Small Group have all made me feel welcome, including the warm and friendly congregation.  Pastor Charles inspired me to join Milwaukie Lutheran.
It all reminds me of Luke 2:30, 31  "My eyes have seen Your Salvation with You  have prepared before the face of all people."  I feel very strongly that the Lord has led me to Milwaukie Lutheran Church.

I was born and raised in Portland.  Attended Milwaukie Schools.  I was introduced to Milwaukie Lutheran at about 12 years old by my long time friend, Laura Giese.  I was baptized and confirmed Lutheran in 1961.  I married a Catholic and strayed from the Lutheran faith.  I started attending again this last summer with my friends, Tom and Laura Giese and Mark and Stephanie Santilli.  I am retired from a company I was with for 29 years and enjoy swim aerobics, reading, and spending time with Mother, 2 children, and 2 grandchildren.

Dee Dee Watson knitted 100 hats for youth.  "Socks for Souls" drive has received generous donations from the congregation, plus warm clothing, underwear, and small containers of cosmetics.

Everyone enjoyed Dennis Lundberg, outreach supervisor for Janus, when he spoke at our church in December.

Thanks:  Dear MLC Family,  We were blessed to have Melve Hove with us far longer than we had ever dreamed. She lived 101 years, 9 months and 5 days. You all made her feel right at home here at MLC during the last 19 years of her long life. She loved to come to church and enjoyed visiting with you. We thank you all for giving her your loving friendship.
We want to say a huge thank you to Pastor Charles for all his loving support and visits during her illness at Providence Portland Medical Center and at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver. We also want to thank Charles, Cheryl Drewes, Sheryl Ann Wage for the memorial service celebrating her life. A big thanks goes to the Milwaukie Lutheran Church Women and supporting men who contributed to the reception in the fellowship hall following the service.
We thank you for your cards and prayers. They were very much appreciated!
God bless you all!
