Soul-and-mind-inseparable-from-body underpins all of my work and that phrase recurs throughout my writing. Matter responds to how we treat it, to the ways in which we think about it, care for it (or not), and are conscious about it (or not).  A person's genuine awareness of soul-and-mind-inseparable-from-body entails what I call dreaming the world into being, which is a process not only of personal transformation but also of social transformation. Dreaming in this way is activist.

Greetings All,

I hope you like the quote above by my good friend, Joanna Frueh. It resonated with me as spoken by a true yogini.   Joanna Frueh is a writer, a performance artist, and a scholar and Professor of Art History Emerita at the University of Nevada, Reno and Professor of Practice in the School of Art at the University of Arizona.  Joanna and I have been conspiring to co-author a book.  Stay tuned for developing details.....

In this month's "Girl Talk" there is something to read, something to watch and something to get active in!  There is a blog entry by Joanna that i think is fascinating and relevant.  Healthline has launched an online 3-D female pelvis AND the National Organization of Women is sponsoring a GET active day to fight how women are portrayed in the media, get involved.

In the asana corner, i have put a link to some rare footage of Krisnamacharya doing asana.  Quite impressive.  He was Mr. Iyengar's teacher, Mr. Iyengar is Ramanand Patel's teacher and Ramanand is my teacher.  So if I am YOUR teacher you are in this lineage!

To my MALE students that regularly give me grief about not enough yoga events for men, there is a YOGA CONFERENCE FOR MEN ONLY IN SAN FRANCISCO.  Also, i will be teaching a workshop on mula bandha for men and women at the Yoga Journal conference in San Francisco in January.

Keep in mind, February 2012, i will be teaching a FIVE day training to train others to teach women about the pelvic floor at Yoga View in Chicago. And another in NYC at Om Yoga in May 2012. The California training is still in the planning stages.

Below is my schedule for the next few months!
