IMPORTANT FOR MODESTO STUDENTS,
PLEASE READ!

"~ The practice of yogasana for the sake of health, to keep fit, or to maintain flexibility is the external practice of yoga. While this is a legitimate place to begin, it is not the end... Even in simple asanas, one is experiencing the three levels of quest: the external quest, which brings firmness of the body; the internal quest, which brings steadiness of intelligence; and the innermost quest, which brings benevolence of spirit."   -B.K.S. Iyengar

Greetings everyone,

I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving Day holiday.  It is so easy to get caught up in what we don't have and what is not going well in our lives.  When really most of us are SO fortunate and often don't take time to be have gratitude.  I try to remind myself constantly at how rich my life is yet it seems like the human mind is programmed to complain!  Yoga has helped me with this immeasurably.  Here is a thought provoking article from the New York Times on separating the physical practice of yoga from its roots,  http://nyti.ms/gPrI84

MODESTO STUDENTS, PLEASE READ!
As yoga always teaches us, "nothing stays the same"!  As of the New Year i will no longer be teaching my weekly classes in Modesto.  I have been living a double life for almost six years and i really need to live in one place.  As i have been teaching and traveling more it just makes sense for me to be in the Bay Area.  My husband, Bill is very supportive and has offered to make the reverse commute and is also excited to be in the Bay Area more often.

As for my classes, Sanna Williamson has graciously offered to take over my Monday 4:30pm class.  So to all my students in the back care class, if you want to keep up your yoga it will be same place, same time!  The Monday 6pm class will be taken over by Cris Le Grand Jacques aka "French Cris". I may show up once in awhile to teach if Sanna and Cris let me!

And for my intrepid, intermediate Sunday class what i thought i might offer is to try to teach a class every 4 -6 weeks or so, workshop style, maybe a 2.5 or 3 hour classThis Sundays class voted for a three hour workshop that would have a particular focus that you could sign up for ahead of time.  Some of my Sunday folks were not there if you care to weigh in.

To my Bay Area students, it looks like Namaste on Lake Shore is set to open on January 1.  Just in time for New Year's resolutions.

i am excited to team up with prominent Bay Area voice teacher, Cheryl Keller.  We will be teaching a Yoga and Voice weekend retreat on June 17-19.  The flier will be done by year end!

Be well, Leslie
