Greetings!

Studies have shown that people who eat a good, nutritious breakfast, do better in school, on the job, and with their all- around focus. Eating breakfast is also a great way to lose weight or to maintain a healthy weight.
But what happens to our bodies when we don't eat breakfast?
Skipping breakfast causes your brain and your body to run low on energy. At this point, your first instinct might be to grab an unhealthy snack, like a candy bar, or one of those highly caffeinated energy drinks.
This week, we are going to focus on healthy breakfast choices that will benefit our bodies and our pocketbooks. I hope you and I both can learn about better choices when it comes to the most important meal of the day!

In the Kitchen
| Breakfast Burritos

I love homemade breakfast burritos. They are easy to make and fill you up fast. They can also be frozen and reheated for those busy school mornings.
These are much healthier for you than the ones at the Golden Arches and Sonic!
Here is what you need to make a batch of 12 breakfast burritos:
Ingredients 1 dozen eggs (got mine for 40 cents at Aldis) 1 pack of bacon (Aldis $1.99) 1 block of cheddar cheese ($1.29) 1 pack of flour tortilla (99 cents) Shredded hash browns ($1.19)
Directions Fry the bacon as you normally would. When it is done, remove the bacon and clean the pan. You can
reserve the grease to make gravy on another morning. After the bacon has cooled, crumble it up.
Shred the cheese. I like block cheese better than packaged shredded cheese, which contain additives to keep the cheese from sticking together.
Fry the hash browns in the pan according to package directions and then set them aside.
Mix all the eggs in a bowl and scramble them in the
pan. Once the eggs begin to come together, add the cheese, bacon, and
hash browns and mix together.
Heat the flour tortillas. I do mine in the microwave for about 20
seconds per tortilla. Do them one at a time or you will have a huge ball
of goo.
Put a heaping spoonful of egg mixture on the tortilla and then roll it up. Serve with salsa!
YUMMY!
If you were to buy 12 burritos from McDonald's, you would spend almost
$13! Make your own at home and you will spend about $6!
