Greetings!
What's new with us? Funny you should ask - we're about to launch a new, cost-effective single-source HR solution called Xtensia HR™. If you need to automate, or just aren't happy with your current HRIS, you'll love Xtensia HR.
Also, you should probably be told - we've been watching you. (That's less spooky than it sounds, really.) To be sure you get information you're interested in, we check to see which topics generally get the most attention in MyWave and our new Client Resource Center. Let us know if there's one you particularly like getting via distribution email. We'll keep an eye out for it!

| Strong Benefits = Stronger Employer/Employee Relationships |
If you're an EmSpring client, you've seen the MyWave document postings, updates and tip sheets from us about Workplace Wellness, Benefits, Green Living and Healthcare Reform, among other topics. We've noticed that that the "Live Well, Work Well" updates get the biggest thumbs up from our clients (with Healthcare Reform topics running a close second). Wellness programs, once considered a "nice to have," are gaining a firm foothold as a much sought after component of employee benefit plans.
Also, the ability to provide useful, relevant benefits beyond the typical benefits package could be the difference between prize employees staying or going once the job market turns around. In a study by MetLife, one "going beyond" example was not only having a traditional wellness program, but also providing education on how to achieve and maintain financial stability. The idea behind that is that if you're financially healthy, you're less stressed and more productive, too.
Pair this knowledge with research showing that for 80% of the workforce, the employer is the number one source for insurance and savings products (Prudential Study). It's evident that employers are the go-to, critical resource for their employees. Correspondingly, it's probable that employees who feel an employer is vested in their well being are more likely to feel job satisfaction and loyalty.

EmSpring is excited to announce a single-source payroll, HR and benefits service solution soon available through us. Xtensia HR lets you choose which critical HR solutions you want to automate and how. An alternative to m any cookie-cutter approaches, Xtensia HR gives you one resource, one system, with all the services you need and none you don't.
We admit to being pretty taken with the efficiency and cost-effectiveness aspects of the Xtensia HR service platform. You log in, update a record in one place, and every place affected by that change updates as well. Its web-based technology facilitates and automates typically manual, paper-driven processes.
There's an Employee Risk Management component to help keep up with labor laws and maintain compliance, plus give you access to legal expertise. Finally, you have outsourcing options to help support you in payroll, benefits or HR functions - from Background Checks to COBRA Administration, to Managed Benefits Administration.
If you'd like to see what Xtensia HR can do to help streamline your HR and associated business processes, please call us at 877.550.8800 to schedule a demo!

Legislative FYI: DOL, IRS & Employee Misclassification
| |
Last month, the Department of Labor and the IRS signed an agreement of understanding that's intended to improve the efforts to prevent employee misclassification as independent contractors. Some employers misclassify employees to avoid typical protections and benefits that a regular FTE would have. Washington is one of the eleven signatory states.
Under the memo, the DOL will be able to share information and coordinate law enforcement with the IRS and the signatory states. The coordination will make it easier to identify and penalize employers who misclassify employees. Penalties can be high, so be extremely careful when classifying workforce.
