Pancake DayPancake Day
Pancakes are made on Shrove Tuesday because this is the last day before Lent [when Christians fast or give up certain luxury items]. Traditionally, families would use up their luxury foods like milk, sugar, eggs and butter, before the 40 days of fasting began.

The largest pancake ever made and flipped measured 15.01 wide, 2.5cm deep and weighed 3 tonnes!

Each year since 1986 an extravagant breakfast has been held in Springfield, Massachusetts on Shrove Tuesday. In 1999, more than 71,233 pancakes were served.

This year Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day, was on 3 February.

Feeling hungry? How about some Snozzcumbers for a snack, or a Fresh Mudburger for dinner? Or perhaps you're in the mood for Stink Bugs'.  Take a look in Roald Dahl's Revolting Recipes for more Roald Dahl recipes, you can borrow this book from any idea Store or Library in Tower Hamlets.

Disgusting Sandwiches
Karen says:
"I think the sandwich I would feed to my enemies would be soggy white bread with scrambled egg and marmite, with maybe a slice of onion too. For friends I would rustle up a crusty roll with chocolate spread and banana, mmmmmm that's what I will have for lunch today I think. What about you?"

Maddy, Idea Store Whitechapel 'Sliced slug and scab sandwich served on mouldy bread with mud butter spread. Yummy!'

How about 'Maggot and marmite' or 'Jellyfish and jam'
