Greetings to our FLOW Family and Friends!
February may be short, but we have had quite the month - filled with field trips, cake decorating contests, basketball games, and dance parties. And let's not forget our mentoring workshops with Charlie Appelstein on February 24th, where we were delighted to have over 65 site leaders, mentors, and community members in attendance! Thank you to all of our mentors, mentees, and site leaders for their continued hard work, dedication, and unending enthusiasm!

White Marsh Cake-Off!
On February 2nd, the White Marsh Elementary FLOW program held a mentor/mentee cake decorating contest! With the help of school psyhologist and cake-baker-extraordinaire Emily Tex, the two Site Leaders at White Marsh, Alicia Ortega and Kate Rodgers, baked plain cakes for each mentor/mentee pair. Emily Tex then gave the group a tutorial on cake decorating, each pair drew a holiday theme out of a hat, and they set to work. Not only was it tons of fun for everyone, the masterpieces they created together were truly impressive and each mentee left that day with a great sense of pride and accomplishment.

FLOW Goes to D.C.!
On Saturday, February 5th, all the middle and high school FLOW Mentoring programs were invited to travel to the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. to watch the Georgetown Hoyas take on the Providence Friars! The Hoyas won in the last minute of the game and mentors and mentees had a fabulous day together. This was the third year we have gone on this field trip, and we look forward to making it happen again next year.

Mechanicsville Goes on
an Adventure!
On February 23rd, the Mechanicsville Elementary FLOW program took an all-day field trip to PAX River Naval Air Station. Chaperoned by their two FLOW site leaders, Gina Bonsignore and Jenny Walker, mentors and mentees took the day off to spend time together. Led by David Wolfe, a MES mentor who is active duty military personnel, they visited the Naval Air Museum, toured the flight control tower and a few fighter jets, had lunch, and went bowling. It was a fabulous day and mentors, mentees, and site leaders are still smiling.
