Interview with Mentor/Mentee Pair
at George Washington Carver Elementary

Interviewed by Elizabeth Vicini

What has been your favorite activity here at FLOW?

Mentee:  I love playing Connect Four and getting-to-know-you games.

Mentor: Yes! We played the Skittle Game and that was fun.

Mentee: Yep!  You tell a fact about yourself and then you get a skittle.  We also talked about goals, and really try to reach them.

Mentor: I also loved going to a play last year at Great Mills.  That was a great experience for the kids.

How have you guys worked to meet your goals?

Mentee:  We always talk about what we want to achieve.  We also work on homework sometimes.  My mentor has really helped me improve my grades.

What type of group activities has your group done?

Mentee:  I play basketball with my mentor all the time!  I love playing sports games with my mentor.  I also like the board games.

Mentor:  Yeah, we all love playing sports together.   We play basketball, kickball in the gym, and volleyball.  We also read books.

What are some hands-on projects that FLOW does?

Mentor:  We built airplanes out of Popsicle sticks, and made holiday cards.  We took the holiday cards to a nursing home.

Mentee:  Yeah, I really liked visiting the nursing home.  We felt good about helping someone.  We also made paper bags for Earth Day at McKays-we were "Going Green."

How do you like FLOW?

Mentee:  I loveeee FLOW! If I had a choice I'd go to FLOW every single day.  The mentors brought us cookies once, they really care about us.  It's so much fun.

Mentor:  I love being with the children-it has been an amazing experience for me.  It relaxes me and, really, it's good for all of us.  It's good for the mentors and the mentees.   I look forward to going to FLOW.
