Legislative Day 2010
Challenges and Successes...
Challenges and successes were addressed in presentations by city, county, and state leaders at Legislative Day, hosted by the Vallejo Chamber of Commerce on April 30, 2010. This event was well received by the almost 100 people in attendance. For more about Legislative Day look for your copy of the VallejoBusiness Newsletter in the mail this week.

Chamber Board Supports Measure A
The Vallejo Chamber Board of Directors voted to Support Measure A at their April Board Meeting. After surveying our 500 members, the majority of responses returned were in favor of the removal of binding arbitration from the City Charter. The Chamber Board feels a yes vote on Measure A is critical to the financial health of the City of Vallejo.  As Vallejo exits bankruptcy, it is imperative we look to new ways of doing business as we move forward to long term financial stability.

Note from Anita Hawkes
President and CEO

Our monthly "Networking @ 5" event is hosted by Kaiser Hospital, this Thursday May 20, 5pm-7-pm.  I hope all of you come to this event where we will be inducting Verna Mustico into the Merchant's Hall of Fame for her continuing efforts for Vallejo. As you know, each year we induct two members into our Merchants Hall of Fame, one an active member and one retired or deceased member. This year, I'm proud to announce, we will honor the memory of Dan Donahue as our second inductee to the Merchant Hall of Fame.  As a tribute, we will present our annual scholarship awards in honor of Verna and Dan. This year, two very deserving high school seniors, Erika Ashley Basa- Peoples High School and Samantha Ochoa- Hogan Senior High School, will be the recipients.

In addition to these wonderful awards this is an opportunity for you to see the new Kaiser Hospital. They will be giving tours of the facility so, if you are in the medical field and would love to see the newest, state of the art hospital in our area come on down!  We want to recognize all of the health workers in our area and look forward to seeing you there. We will be in the cafeteria, right off the lobby in the new hospital.

We value your membership and if we can be of assistance to you please call 644-5551.

Warm Regards,

Anita Hawkes
