Office Saves Small Firms $7B in Regulatory Costs
Phoenix Business Journal - by Kent Hoover
Input on proposed regulations from the U.S. Small Business Administration's Office of Advocacy in fiscal 2009 helped save small firms $7 billion in regulatory compliance costs, according to the office.

The Office of Advocacy works with federal agencies to make sure they comply with a law that requires them to analyze the impact their rules have on small businesses, and to consider less costly alternatives. It reviewed hundreds of regulations last year, convened roundtables to get comments from small businesses and sent 30 comment letters to federal agencies.
CalChamber Urges Support for Prop. 16
Taxpayers Right to Vote Act on June Ballot
The California Chamber of Commerce is a strong supporter of Proposition 16, The Taxpayers Right to Vote Act, and is asking local chambers of commerce and other members to endorse this important measure on the June ballot.

This initiative simply requires that voters have the final say if a local government chooses to spend public money or incur public debt to create a government-run electricity business. Like most other local special tax and bond decisions in California, a two-thirds vote would be required.
