2000 Chateauneuf-du-Pape is probably the single best thing I am pulling out of my cellar to drink these days. It is just PERFECT, plain and simple. This one in particular is one of our all-time favorites, is very hard to find these days, and we just bought a parcel with a superb price and plenty of raves from Parker and the rest. Subtle aromas of vanillin intermixed with blackberry, black cherry, chocolate, and espresso characteristics explode from the glass. In the mouth, there is firm tannin as well as enormous fruit, undeniable southern Rhone typicity, powerful, concentrated, thick flavors, and a finish that lasts for 45+ seconds.
