Dear Oenophile,

Ironically, on the heels of our Tuesday offer sounding the praises of Gaja, Wine Spectator drops a 99-pointer yesterday...get it while it's hot and the price is still reasonable! The Pio Cesare was another killer score along with it. Pre-Arrival. Please let us know what we can do for you! --S

BH = Burghound (Allen Meadows)

2006 Bouchard Chambertin Clos de Beze 750mL -- $210 BH95
"A more elegant, less reserved and spicier nose of cool red berry fruit that has background nuances of Gevrey earth and underbrush notes that merge into rich, full and serious full-bodied flavors that are marvelously complex and brimming with dry extract that gives the finish a textured quality on the massively long finish. This is a 'wow' wine that is also old school in style."

2006 Bouchard Clos Vougeot 750mL -- $145 BH94
"Not surprisingly, there are more similarities than differences between these two versions of Clos de Vougeot but the differences are significant, particularly in that the Domaine version is more complex and slightly finer with huge dry extract levels and a long, powerful and explosive finish. An impressive built-to-age wine that is clearly worth a serious look."

2006 Bouchard Chevalier Montrachet 750mL -- $270 BH96
"(from a 2.54 ha parcel that gave only 25 hl/ha in '05 due to the very tiny berries that had little juice). Prost was, justifiably, extremely proud of this wine and observed that it may be the best "straight" Chevalier that he's ever made. Not surprisingly, this is a good deal more elegant than the Bâtard with gorgeously pure floral and white fruit, stone and subtle spice aromas that seamlessly merge into the almost painfully intense and vibrant flavors that, like the Perrières, possess crystalline purity and huge length. This is a knockout Chevy and if you can find it, don't miss it. 96/2014+"

2006 Bouchard Montrachet 750mL -- $495 BH97
"(from a .89 ha parcel of Puligny vines). While it's almost hard to believe, here the highly perfumed nose is more complex still with a superb range of floral, orchard fruit, spice, toast, roasted nut and acacia blossom aromas that complement to perfection the big, rich, concentrated and seriously intense big-bodied flavors brimming with dry extract that confers an almost chewy texture on the magnificently long finish. This is a Montrachet with both style and power yet it remains elegant, pure and is still very much of a baby. Great but note that patience is required. 97/2016
