Care.  Support.  Solutions.December 2010

LadyDear ,

With winter upon us, it is the time of year that we celebrate the accomplishments of the past year.  Here at HESSCO, we are proud to have expanded our role in the community through the addition of two new educational programs.  Earlier this year, HESSCO launched "My Life, My Health" and "The Dementia Experience" with the hopes of impacting a broader range of community members.  Both programs have been well received and will continue to be offered in 2011.

As we reflect further on the past year, we are excited to have honored our volunteers at a dinner event in June.  Many of our volunteers have dedicated themselves and given their time for more than 10 years.  Thanks to everyone who makes a difference to our agency, our clientele and the community we serve.

Looking forward to 2011 we are excited to be rolling out "Powerful Tools for Caregivers" in a partnership with our sister agency, BayPath Elder Services.  "Powerful Tools" is an evidenced based program designed empower and strengthen caregivers in their roles in caring for loved ones.  Look for our first program to be offered in February 2011.

Thank you for your support over the year.

Home Delivered for the Holidays

Last Fall HESSCO was in search of finding an organization who would partner with us to provide hot Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to homebound elders in our area who would be alone for the holidays.  After an extensive search with several organizations unable to financially afford this program, Abundant Table was willing and able to partner with HESSCO to provide over 70 meals to elders in our area who would be alone on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

This Thanksgiving, Abundant Table shopped, cooked and portioned out over 70 meals to elders unable to get out for the holiday.  Several volunteers were very busy Thanksgiving morning preparing an abundant meal consisting of turkey, stuffing, whipped potato, cranberries, green beans, yams, squash, apple and pumpkin pie, cake, rolls and butter. Truly a bountiful meal.

It is an honor and pleasure to partner with this outstanding organization.
