Masters In Trial
A Demonstration from Opening Statement to Jury Deliberations

For the first time the premier national program, Masters In Trial will be in Boston at Suffolk University Law School. Advanced Legal Studies is thrilled to be participating with the American Board of Trial Advocates to bring you this one-day mini trial of a product liability case featuring leading litigators from Massachusetts and across the country. The trial includes insight from a live jury deliberation. Don't miss this exclusive opportunity to be educated and entertained.

Gender Equality in a Time of Economic Stress
A recent report by the U.S. Census Bureau shows that women lawyers still earn far less than their male counterparts. The question of how to effectively address this issue and others is the focus of the conference on November 20. Responding to a challenge first articulated by The Honorable Nancy Gertner, the Equality Commission presents women who have been involved in creating solutions within law firms and as in-house counsel. The Keynote luncheon speaker, Deborah M. Kolb, The Deloitte Ellen Gabriel Professor for Women and Leadership at the Simmons School of Management, is an authority on gender issues in negotiation and leadership, especially how women negotiate the conditions for their own success while contributing to the effectiveness of their organization. Attend and learn useful strategies for your career and gain inspiration from your colleagues.

In The News
Two of our upcoming conferences, while very different in focus, both feature topics in the news:

Wrongful Convictions: Litigating and Preventing highlights the experience of judges and lawyers who have been involved with key cases. The first week, "Righting Wrongs" provides you with an expert analysis of how to evaluate cases, the process for seeking reversal, and seeking remedies and compensation. The second week, experienced litigators tell you how to prevent wrongful convictions by discussing best practices in handling eyewitness identification and false confessions, avoiding ineffective assistance of counsel and the use of forensic evidence and confidential informants.

Much has been said during the presidential campaign about health care. On November 21, we take a close look at the Massachusetts model and what can be learned from it. Health Care Reform presents an inside look at the implementation and regulation issues as well as possible ways to improve the current law. The interactive discussion with decision-makers provides an opportunity to learn about the challenges facing Massachusetts and the country on this vital issue.
