Suffolk University Law School's Center for Advanced Legal Studies received the top public interest award from the international Association for Continuing Legal Education (ACLEA) in recognition of the Center's 2007 Centennial Conference on International Human Rights. This 2-day conference focused the first day on "Implementing Human Rights in Massachusetts" and the second day on "The Hidden Epidemic: Child Sex Trafficking". This is the Center's fourth public interest award from ACLEA.

Justice Greaney to Join Suffolk Law Faculty 
Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Associate Justice John M. Greaney is retiring and will join the law school faculty and become the director of the Macaronis Institute for Trial and Appellate Advocacy starting December 1. The Macaronis Institute programs are known for their sophisticated topics, experienced presenters, from both the bench and the bar, and comprehensive written materials. Upcoming Macaronis Institute programs this fall include Successful Strategies for Jury Trials and Wrongful Convictions: Litigating and Preventing.
Major Business Tax Changes 
Taking effect in 2009, major changes have been passed in corporate income tax law. All businesses will be affected. General business practitioners need to learn how these changes will impact tax planning and business structuring. On Friday, September 19, Sweeping Changes in Corporate Tax Law, provides you with an inside look at the meaning of these changes.
