I am pleased to announce that Rock the Block 2012 will double in size this year!  We will feature more musical acts, a brand new novelty area, new and improved food options, Buffalo Creek Music Company Open Mic Night on the Crute Stage, fireworks, prizes and much more!  Spaces are going quickly so sign up today!

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Rock The Block 2012 will be held on Friday, September 14, 2012 from 5:30pm-9:00pm in the Longwood Landings at MidTown Square complex.  The Town of Farmville is graciously supporting this event as we close portions of Main and South Streets to offer new festival style food options, live music by Snackbar Jones and Jesse Chong and the Chong Band, bigger and better novelty items, prizes and much more!

In addition to these attractions, we will be hosting a Local Business and Organization Showcase from 5:30-8:00pm in the Landings complex, however, you are welcome to keep your displays open until the event ends at 9pm.  This will be an opportunity for you to display merchandise and information, offer coupons and discounts, and provide samples and giveaways.  Students are constantly reporting that they aren't sure where to shop and buy gifts, get their car washed and serviced or take their families out to dinner so this is your opportunity to provide some answers!  This event is also open to the local community!

We are also looking for donations for raffles throughout the event!  If you are willing to donate meals, gift certificates or merchandise, please let us know using the link below.  These will be a part of our MainStage announcements so your business would receive significant publicity!

If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact Sarah Whitley at  rocktheblock@longwood.edu or 434.395.2414.  Once we confirm your reservation, you will receive additional information regarding loading areas and event logistics.

How Can YOU Help Habitat for Humanity?

Volunteers Needed: What will you build next?

Everyday, somewhere in the world, Habitat for Humanity volunteers and partner families are building houses - and something more.   Something extraordinary.

A Habitat build site is a place where a concrete floor becomes the foundation for a better life.  Where a door becomes the gateway to a more secure future.  Where volunteers who meet as strangers become lifelong friends.

Farmville Area Habitat for Humanity needs your help on homes 23 & 24!

We are in need of volunteers to complete a home on Sailors Creek Road in Rice (Prince Edward County) as well as one Hylawn Ave. in the town Farmville.  The primary days that volunteers will be needed are on Saturday's from 8am-4pmand on Sunday's from 1pm-5pm.

No Experience is necessary - email us at info@farmvillehabitat.org to sign you or your group up to volunteer one weekend!

(Lunch is provided on Saturdays and snacks area provided on Sundays for all volunteers)
