Letter to the Community
Dear Friends:
I write this letter with tremendous gratitude for all who have supported Avenues for Homeless Youth with financial, in-kind and volunteer contributions. This newsletter is filled with names of supporters in the last two months -- thank you!
I am also thrilled to report that we met and exceeded the $5,000 match put up by three generous individuals for our year-end fundraising appeal.
The holidays can be difficult for many people, especially those who are without families and homes. At Avenues, several new youth had moved into shelter right before the holidays, when several youth were able to move into their own new housing. Such transitions can be especially hard.
But the holidays at Avenues were mostly filled with smiles this year! We can especially thank the Glen Cary Lutheran Church youth group for the decorated stockings and gift packages they delivered for our youth, as well as the Avenues staff members who worked through the holidays, planned special meals and led fun events, like making gingerbread houses.
Our best wishes to you for a wonderful 2011.

In-Kind Contributions and Volunteers
At Avenues, we provide our youth with everyday needs from bath towels and personal care supplies to bus tokens and nutritional meals. We remember youth on their special days with gifts for birthdays, holidays and when they move out. And we offer clothing, cold weather gear, tutoring and more. Much of this is provided by volunteers and in-kind contributors.
We extend a special thank you to all the individuals, groups and faith organizations that donated items and gifts this holiday season, and who volunteer their time at Avenues.
