Letter to the Community
Dear Friends:
We love sharing with you some of the fun and exciting news about our youth - like going to prom, graduating from high school, dreaming about a summer filled with fun activities and getting ready for their first apartment.
If all goes well, it looks like as many as seven of our youth will be moving into "stable housing" soon. These youth have been on waiting lists and working with their case managers to get into "permanent supportive housing," such as apartments that offer financial and case management support. Their work is about to pay off. And that makes us both excited and proud.
We'll also be celebrating the high school graduation soon of two or three of our youth this spring. If you'd like to help with our graduation parties and move out celebrations, please call or email us. One great way to help is by contributing money or Target gift cards to help the youth set up their first apartments.
Thanks for supporting Avenues' youth.

| Prom - A night to remember
Avenues' youth are excited for many of the events that come with spring, including high school prom. One of our youth, a Minneapolis high school senior, attended her school prom April 17.
She had a great time picking out her dress and attending the "night to remember" with a group of her friends.

Sponsor a youth activity this summer
There is just something about summer that makes everyone want to be active. The youth at Avenues are no exception. Summer activities build community at Avenues and let our youth know they are important.
You can help sponsor one of Avenues' monthly activities. Avenues youth have expressed interest in ValleyFair, a Minnesota Twins game at Target Field, an ice-cream social, the Minnesota State Fair and other activities. To make these adventures possible, we need sponsors.
If you are interested in sponsoring a youth activity contact Heather Rist -- heather@avenuesforyouth.org or 612-522-1690.

At its North Minneapolis house, Avenues has 15 short-term beds and 1 emergency bed for youth ages 16 to 21. Youth receive basic needs and 24 x 7 caring of Avenues staff. While at Avenues, all youth work with case managers to pursue their individual goals of education, employment, housing, mental health and physical wellness.
