9 Can't-Miss Colour Tips

1 Neutrals Make it Easy
When you're looking for an affordable way to update a room's look from season to season, neutral larger furniture pieces will give you the flexibility needed to easily change paint, pillows, window treatments and other accessories.
2. Get Inspired
Let your favorite rug, pillow, artwork or other accessory be your color inspiration. Pick up the colors from these items as you choose additional paint, fabric and accessories for the room.
3. Wear It, Design With It
You'll want to look good in your space, so choose colors that flatter your complexion. If you look good in an outfit of the same color, then chances are you will look gorgeous in the room.

Consciousness Equals Greener, Skinnier Life
Going green, or at least greener, is as much about being conscious as anything else. Asking where a product came from or how it was made leads to a lot of interesting changes in the way we shop, eat, drive, live. Just think of the recent frenzy over lead in toys, and the questions that raised. It turns out heightened consciousness leads to greater weight loss, too. So says an attention-worthy study published in the August issue of American Journal of Preventive Medicine, in which researchers found that all it takes to double your weight loss is to keep track of everything you eat by writing it down in a food diary. Nuit Blanche in King West
October 4, 2008 6:52 PM to sunrise

This year marks the third Nuit Blanche, and there are more than a dozen exhibitions happening between Strachan and Dufferin, south of King. Some of the highlights include Overflow by Michel de Broin, at the former Prison Chapel, East Liberty Street and Lynn Williams Street.
2007
Sobey Award winner Michel de Broin is known for suspending a mobile
home from a crane, creating a bicycle that generates its own smoke
machine and converting a 1987 Buick Regal into a pedal-operated
vehicle. For Nuit Blanche de Broin continues his investigations into
resistance, reorganization and chaos with a waterfall flowing from a
third story window. Or, take a look at the installation by Jacob Dahlgren at Studio City, Studio #1, 1 Pardee Avenue
Jacob
Dahlgren wears a different striped shirt everyday, and has done so for
at least a decade. He has over a thousand of them. They are props in
his performances and models for his paintings. His works are based on
repetition and the recycling of existing aesthetic languages and
ready-made objects, from coloured ribbons to yoghurt containers. Click here for more information

Market News
TREB Members reported 6,318 in sales in August, President Maureen O'Neill announced today. "The 2008 Toronto summer market is ending on a solid pace," noted the President.
Sales were down 22 per cent from the record-breaking August 2007 of 8,059 single family dwellings, but were only off nine per cent from the more typical figure of 6,976 sales recorded in August 2006.
This sales decline did not occur uniformly across the GTA. Units transacted within the City of Toronto, at 2,437, were down 25 per cent from the 3,243 recorded in August of 2007, while down only 10 per cent from the 2,706 figure in the same month of 2006. Meanwhile sales within the 905 suburbs came in at 3,881, down 19 per cent from 2007 (4,816 sales), and down 9 per cent from August of 2006, when 4,270 sales were recorded.
