HAPPENINGS

North Side Housing Holiday Lunch

The Guests of the new Pantry, housed at St. Peter's, run by North Side Housing and Supportive Services, are being invited to a holiday lunch on Monday, November 21 from 1-4 PM. The lunch will be held in the Guild Room. North Side Housing will bring all the food, but we have been invited to help serve the meal. If possible, volunteers are asked to wear black pants and white shirts to create a restaurant style atmosphere. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the office at (773) 525-0844.

We are also collecting gently used coats that will be distributed to guests of the Pantry. If you have a coat that you would like to donate, please bring it by the office. Thanks!

A Pledge Campaign Update
A hearty thank-you to the people who have already made their pledges of wealth, wisdom, and work for 2012. Right now, we're at 47 pledgers and $135,648 pledged. To expand our ministries and fully fund those we have now, our goal is 80 pledgers and $225,000. You can pick up a pledge card at the back of the church or ask one of the ushers for one.  And be sure to check out the Sharing Our Story thank-you visual aid in the Guild Room.

The Sharing Our Story Videos Go National
In October, St. Peter's posted short daily video clips featuring conversations with parishioners about how they've experienced God's grace. These videos were picked up nationally by The Episcopal Network for Stewardship, and portions of 16 interviews were combined to make a short film -- complete with a blooper reel!  The clips and film are available on the St. Peter's website www.stpeterschicago.org.

Ministry Opportunity: Be an usher!
Do you have a friendly smile and a willingness to welcome people? Perhaps you'd enjoy being an usher.Duties include greeting and distributing programs, shaking hands during the peace, passing the offering plates and guiding people during communion. If this sounds like a ministry that you'd enjoy, please contact Steve McFadden who would love to tell you more.

World AIDS Day 2011
World AIDS Day

Aus tiefer Not/From Deepest Darkness, a new work for World AIDS Day by St. Peter's Artist-in-Residence John Addison Dally, brings together choral music, piano improvisation, speech choir, narration and monologue in a kind of sonic collage. It contrasts the continuing ravages of the bubonic plague in 16th Century Europe with the outbreak of AIDS worldwide in the 1980s and highlights the way art responds to devastating health crises.

Offered by St. Peter's as a benefit for Bonaventure House, a residential treatment facility in the Lakeview neighborhood, the work highlights the particular gifts of each of those communities. Saint Peter's unique blend of excellence in singing and speech arts will provide the context for monologues developed by two residents of Bonaventure House. The whole will be united by the poignant piano improvisations of Br. Nathanael Deward Rahm, BSG, St. Peter's organist and choirmaster. Come and experience this moving reflection on crisis and hope for World AIDS Day 2011.
